Lie du jour

"obama and confederates" have launched a new and utterly disgraceful TV ad packed with one excruciating lie after another.  If you had just arrived in America after a decade in outer mongolia, and the first thing you heard was this ad, you would think President Reagan had been reincarnated.  You would also think that all was well in these United States.  That is the picture that this ad is selling. But if you bought into the picture obama is trying to paint, you would be incredibly stupid.  The problem for obama, of course, is that nobody is that dumb.  Well, I hope nobody is that dumb.  Well, I pray - daily, profoundly, anxiously - that enough people are not morons.  I mean, you've lived here recently, most of you, for the most part.  You have, haven't you?  Have you heard the unemployment rate?  Have you seen the track record of the GDP during these obama years of misery?  Did you hear about the stimulus billions that were supposed to be for "shovel ready" jobs but ended up as union slush fund money?  Did you hear obama laugh about that?  Myself, I didn't laugh.  I don't like obama.  But I digress, as Mr. Levin is fond of saying.  What obama and the far left are banking on or hoping for is that there are enough voters who are stupid enough to think that obama's policies still might work to get him re-elected.  In other words, even though he has had four years in office and even though the first two of those years were with a veto-proof majority in both houses of Congress, even though every one of his legislative initiatives were passed and signed into law (I am not saying that I have no problems with the methods used to pass what I call obamamess and what most call obamacare; the point here is that at least for now, that atrocity and all of his other legislation, is law), obama and company hope enough people are so removed from reality or are so utterly vapid that they believe his old, stale, far-left, uber left, ideas are working. In other words, obama hopes like hell (talk about a freudian slip) that enough people are so utterly stupid that they think (a) his ideas = the ones now parading around as obamamess, stimulus, stimulus two etc. are just great laws; (b) think that if given more time, they will work; and (c) want more such ideas, ideas like a new and far more aggressive EPA, the end of the coal industry, severe new restrictions on domestic oil production, new restrictions on your first amendment rights, virtually unilateral nuclear disarmament (have you read "Fate of the Earth?"), a severely limited U.S. Navy, a severe cut-back on weapons development, and, if obama somehow survives the inevitable conclusion of a nuclear-armed Iran, new strong-arm tactics on Israel in order to force concessions by the Jewish State to appease the islamic radicals now in possession of a virtual vice-grip on power in the Middle East. I believe the only possible way Iran emerges from the current build-up with nuclear power is for the inevitable attack on Iran by Israel to utterly fail. That would be a nightmare for everyone.  Can you imagine Israel attacking Iran in an all-out attempt to set the nuclear program back far enough that the current generation in Israel will be able to live without fear of nuclear armageddon?  Can you imagine if such an attack is only partially successful but, what's worse, the Israeli's get caught there and their military faces unimaginable damage without quick and decisive help.  The only possible help would be from the United States.  But other countries, maybe even some western countries, are alligned with and maybe even in the field with Iran.  What would obama do?  Egads!

Did I say this current obama ad is long?  obama says in the ad that he wants to come to your house and sit around your dinner table so that he might fully explain why his ideas are so much better than Romney's.  First of all, he traffics in that old Democratic lie about the Republican candidate only wanting to give tax breaks to the very rich.  for his part, he wants the rich to pay higher taxes.  Now, I am not rich.  I am not even a little bit rich.  If the truth be known, I, like many Americans, am just about broke.  obama says that it is all Bush's fault.  Except that when Bush was President I got to keep some of the money I made.  It wasn't  redistributed to people who did not earn my money. (I am in favor of taxing.  I believe the people get to set the standards for taxing.  obama believes taxes are the way to the end he wants: bringing the poor up to a point where there is economic parady between the poor and the rich. I have always agreed with President Reagan who said that society's obligation is to set a viable and working safety net for all citizens.)  But that is getting off the point.  Statistics say that the top 10% of all taxpayers are paying over 70% of all taxes.  How much more are they supposed to pay?  Obama knows full well that he cannot raise taxes on such a small number of people high enough to make any kind of a meaningful difference to bringing down the national debt.  You would have to raise their taxes to an astronomical level to make even a small dent in the deficit.  And if the truth be known, obama isn't interested in cutting the deficit, he is interested in more entitlements.  In other words, even if congress got stupid and gave him more money, he wouldn't use it to trim the deficit, he use it to give more money to the distributees.   This would mean that he is lying when he says he wants to increase revenue as a vehicle to cut the deficit.  Tell me I'm wrong and you are making your kool-aide way too strong.

This is how bad it is with the democrats.  First, when obama starts to recite his accomplishments he has to be lying.  He has no accomplishments unless you're one of the brain-dead who judge obamamess to be a "success."  I heard one ad where he says "we've tried their way and it doesn't work."  Is he so wrapped up in mirror gazing that he can't remember the eight years that Reagan was president? Capitalism works.  If it isn't neutered by government interference, it works.  If it isn't working then mankind has had an extinction event.  He says his way has worked.  That's the biggest lie of all.  Every leading economic indicator is so ugly looking that people who follow them stopped because they were so depressed they were contemplating a stroll half way across the Golden Gate Bridge, if you take my meaning.  What is he talking about?  I'll tell you what he's talking about, it's the moron brigade.  He actually thinks he can win by uniting all those voters who are too stupid or ignorant to understand that he isn't being honest.  How else do you categorize people who think obama's economic plans have worked?  What do you call people who really believe he needs eight years to "correct" President Bush's mistakes?  The economy was just dandy under Bush, no matter how much you hated him, until the last months when some really evil people pulled off that infamous caper of the economic catastrophe.  Let me refresh your memory.  It's late September and early October, 2008.  Despite all the defections from GOP troops, despite a fully complicit media that treated obama like a deity, despite the refusal to vet obama by the media, despite the unbelievable love fest surrounding obama, the polls showed John McCain with a slight lead.  Then, suddenly, there is a looming economic calamity.  Certain Bush advisers - many of them looking to pad their resumes for the coming political change and some secretly working for obama - somehow convince Bush that unless he pours money into key sectors there will be a complete economic meltdown.  Democrats and even some republicans state that the emergency legislation must be passed at once.  In fact, obama said that about all of his legislative plans in that first year.  obamamess passed even though not one congressman or congresswoman who voted for it had actually read the 1700 page monster.  obama himself angrily rejected those who claimed the bill provided for "death panels" which are panels of bureaucrats who decide whether certain elderly or disabled patients are worth providing emergency surgery to.  Trouble was, those panels are in the legislation in black and white.  The same thing was true with obama's repeated assertions that you would be able to keep your insurance plan and your doctor. You cannot read that bill and not understand that what obama was saying was not the reality of the statute.  obama was telling the public what he knew they wanted to hear, while his legislation was doing to American healthcare what obama wanted to do to it; i.e., destroy it while driving up costs so fast and so high that it will absolutely make your head spin.

obama is like some desperate child who sold his soul to get into this supposed room of superwonderful toys, only to find out that he wasn't strong enough to pick even one toy up and carry it out.  He somehow got himself elected President and he did it when both houses of congress had veto-proof democratic majorities.  So all these obama-sponsored economic measures - every single one of them right out of the radical far left play book - were rushed through congress and signed by obama.  he got every thing he wanted and all it accomplished was making the domestic economy look like a bombed out warzone.  No matter, obama just goes out and tells americans that bush left the country in worse shape than even he realized, and he just needs four more years to turn it around.  Forget the fact - and it is an absolute fact - that not one of his economic measures showed any sign at all of turning the economy around.  Forget the fact that he has barely mentioned what he would do if he was re-elected.  Forget the fact that if he did tell us what he was going to do you would think a grand jury should be impanelled. Forget all of that.  obama wants you to believe him when he says his plans are better than Romneys.  Forget the fact that the taxpayers who he wants to raise taxes on are the entire class of small business owners who, statistics show, are the group that produces the most new jobs over any time period you choose to compare.  obama is hoping there are enough voters stupid enough to believe him.  Won't that make you feel good if you are thinking of voting for obama.  You might just be a member of the largest group of publicly recognized morons and imbeciles ever to walk the Earlh. Won't you be proud!

Reality Check

BALTIMORE - The Baltimore Ravens sit atop the powerful AFC North with a 3-1 record.  And yet, no team in the NFL, including the Packers, was damaged more by pathetic replacement officiating than the Ravens.  Their one loss, a one point affair in week two  in Philadelphia, was highway robbery in its purest sense. One touchdown was literally stolen off the scoreboard.  Flacco threw some 30 yards to Jacoby Jones, who leaped and caught the pass in the endzone while ignoring the faceguarding and bumping from the Eagle DB.  The back, for his part, never turned his head while bumping and grinding Jones for the last ten yards of the pass route.  Not only that, but he conspicuously waived his arms in Jones' face for the sole purpose of blocking his vision.  There was no thought on blocking the pass because, like I said, he never turned around.  And yet this clown of an official called offensive interference.  I looked at the replay a dozen times trying to see if there was something that would have caused a rational mind to make such a stupid mistake.  There is nothing: no pushoff, no stiff arm, no nothing.  The thing that bothered me about the disgraceful call was the failure of the man to come clean after the game and after he saw what a terrible call he'd made.  A simple "I blew it," would have made the the call sit better with the team he screwed.  A bit later another Eagle literally grabbed Torre Smith around the waist as he beat him into the endzone on a pass route.  A flag was thrown but not for pass interference.  The moron official called illegal contact.  Huh?  The ball was an instant away from landing in Smith's hands when the infraction was committed.  Why would a defensive player do what he did if no pass had been thrown yet?  At any rate, as the replay clearly showed, the ball had been in the air for quite some time when the guy hogtied Smith.  But instead of first and goal at the one yard line, the Ravens received a five yard penalty and a first down...back at the thirty yard line.  Against a tough Eagle defense, no TD was forthcoming, only a FG.  In a one point game.
But lets hold on a minute.  There is no monopoly on pathetic offiating in the ranks of the replacement refs.  Case in point was last year's AFC title game.  The Patriots were up by three in the fourth quarter, when, in the last minute, the Ravens mount a stunning drive, featuring, for the most part, Joe Flacco and Anquan Bouldin.  The football wizard himself, Bill Belechik, is trying to cover Bouldin with a reserve receiver, julian Edelman, and it isn't coming close to working. First, Flacco finds Bouldin for about 35 yards.  On the next play, Flacco finds Bouldin for about 20 more yards.  Now, they are near the Patriot ten yard line with about 30 seconds left.  On first down, from that point, Flacco throws a miraculous pass to Lee Evans in the endzone.  Somehow, the ball gets between two converging Patriot defensive backs and lands in Evans hands.  Evans catches the ball and spins around, both of his feet hitting the ground in the endzone.  Then, an instant later, one of the "beaten" defensive backs swats at the ball and Evans lets go of it.  As people in Baltimore pointed out all winter, there is no way you look at that play and don't see a TD.  Every talisman of a touchdown is there: a firmly caught pass, then firmly held as both feet hit the ground.  The receiver turns some 90 degrees while holding the ball.  Then and only then is the ball swatted loose.  The refs called it incomplete and the most stunning thing of all is that no review was conducted. Maybe in retrospect the Ravens didn't kick up more of a stink.  But it was first down and the Ravens still had two more plays before they would have to kick a chip shot FG to force OT.  Another thing that allowed the play to go unnoticed until it was too late was the fact that the play looked like it was called reasonably at regular speed.  The play did happen fast.  The swat came just an instant after the catch.  But so what?  It's the AFC title game and the play, if called correctly, would have sealed the deal for the Ravens.
There were many in the radio talk show world today who believe there is a bit of hypocrisy going on with these replacement refs.  Leftists who seem to demand that political correctness be observed over reality, very quickly lose that belief when it comes to these replacement officials.  Because they are "scabs" in some sense, they get no support at all from the TV commentators calling the game.  Some networks have retired refs commenting on the officiating, and they always seem to find problems with the scabs.  When the regular guys are working, they always find a way to support or rationalize the call.  Now admittedly, finding wrongs with the replacements is like shooting fish in a barrel.  They haven't obtained the training the regular guys have.   And they haven't had the game experience the regulars have had.  Of course, even with all of that training, you still get really lousy calls.  Go back to that AFC title game.  The blown call on the Raven TD aside, the Ravens still have the ball.  On the next play a linebacker for the Patriots grabs a favorite Flacco receiver, former BYU star Denis Pita, and hangs on until Flacco's pass is leaving his hand.  Illegal contact? At least.  Holding? Certainly.  And after Flacco throws the ball, in fact, well after Flacco throws the ball, he is creamed by a late arriving Patriot lineman.  Roughing the passer?  Well, of course.  Unnecessary roughness.  For sure.  Was a flag thrown?  Against Belechik and friends in Foxboro?  Are you kiddling?  The Ravens should have had first and goal and been on the verge of beating the Patriots again in the Playoffs in Foxboro.  Had you forgotten that the only team in the Belechik era to do that was the Ravens?  Well, without the obvious calls being "missed," the Ravens had to settle for a game-tieing field goal.  This would be the chip shot the Billy Cundiff missed.  The one that got his butt cut this season in favor of Justin Tucker.  That would be Tucker in a very similar situation Sunday night, after hitting six straight field goals to start the season, many from very long range.  Tucker also shanked his chippy, but by the grace of God, he didn't shank it enough.  It eased inside the upright at the last and this time the Ravens beat New England.  For the replacement refs, it was about their last stand.  On Monday night they really messed up an end-of=game call in Seattle, giving the Seahawks an undeserved win over the Packers.  By Thursday night it was the regular refs taking the field in Baltimore, and for that one brief moment, the refs were cheared lustily.  It lasted for about fifteen minutes, until they, too, really screwed up a call trying to stay on the politically correct side of things.  Bernard Pollock made a great and totally legal hit on a Browns receiver, but it "looked" nasty and the real refs did the PC thing, blowing the call miserably in the process.  But all you union fans out there can be happy that PC is back.  Terrific.

refs didn't even know the rules

Growing up, my father would always rail when I tried to blame defeat on a referee or umpire.   He'd gripe when a bad call was offered as an excuse for a defeat.  He is now 85 and just as sharp as ever.  So I was surprised, then, when the first thing he said about the Ravens game last Sunday was how they'd been hosed by incompetent officiating.  I guess when it is that bad - and it was and then some - you have to call it for what it was.  The Ravens scored two touchdowns that were taken from them by two of the worst calls you'd ever care to see.  One came when Joe Flacco through a 30 yard TD pass to Jacoby Jones.  Jones' catch was a sight to see as he outjumped the Eagle defender for the pass.  The defender, for his part, never turned around to find the ball. Instead, he floundered around, bumping Jones repeatedly and waiving his arms in Jones face.  When the knucklehead disguised as a referee threw his flag, every fan expected it to be a moot point.  The Ravens would  naturally decline the pass interference in favor of the TD.  But the knucklehead called it on Jones.  Now remember, the defender never turned or made any effort to find the ball.  All he did was bump Jones as often as he could and waive his arms in the receiver's face.  Somehow, that isn't a penalty.  The second call was just as ridiculous.  I believe it was Torre Smith, the fleet-footed former Terp, who was hogtied by an Eagle a split second before the pass got to him in the endzone.  The ref saw it and threw his flag.  But instead of pass interference he called illegal contact.  Instead of first and goal at the one, it was a first down back around the 30.  Why would a defender hogtie a receiver if the ball wasn't in the air.  It actually appeared as if the man didn't know the rules.  I read where overall viewership is down and the ref strike is blamed.  Whether or not that is true is really unimportant.  If the NFL can't throw a few bucks to its referees, then it shoud refund some of the ticket price to the fans who are paying for the joke.  By the way, the Eagles "won" the game by one point, not counting the 14 the refs stole from the Ravens.  Tell me I'm wrong.

Romney is one sane voice in MIddle East meltdown

DNC media operatives operating in the mainstream - we have to get a good idiomatic for them - are trying hard as hell to blame romney for the middle east meltdown.  Romney, early on, blasted those responsible for US ambassador's death, and criticized obama for allowing Cairo embassy to apologize for insensitive US citizens criticizing Muhammed.  Really, in today's modern world, will the left suggest that steps be taken to silence those who berate somebody or something?  And how naive is obama and his cairo folk for even thinking that some moron saying something about Muhammed will listen to reason?  Did it never dawn on them that all of this happened on 9-11, a day celebrated by islamists?  No.  But dnc media operatives - caught on tape conspiring against romney while framing their latest "news" report - say romney caused everything.  Please.  Romney was only clear voice for sanity.  It wasn't even close.

You have to keep pinching yourself these days.  Just keep saying that obama is by far the worst US president ever.  It isn't even close.  How can even liberals want him to be re-elected?  How dumb do you have to be to want such a disaster re-elected?

Happy sporting results must take back seat

I want to begin with sports.  I really do. On a Tuesday night in September the stunning Orioles moved back into first after routing Tampa Bay while the Yankees were losing to the Red Sox.  In College Park, No. 2 or 3 Maryland (depending on the poll you follow) surged late to shake off upset minded UMBC, 3-1, while top ranked North Carolina lost in its first road game of the season.  The Dukes of James Madison stunned the Heels, 2-1, in Harrisonburg, Va.  Meanwhile, back in Baltimore, the town is still buzzing about the smash-mouth Ravens and their 41-13 rout of the Bengals, a team many thought would challenge Baltimore for the AFC North Title.  That result, coupled with losses by Pittsburgh and Cleveland, has staked the Ravens to an early sole possession of first place and solid one game lead on the rest of the division.  But how can anyone dwell on such pleasant past times when the news from the nation's capital and other world cities is so stunning.

There are reports tonight that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - only weeks away from giving the go ahead to an attack on Iran and its nuclear program - has requested an emergency meeting with obama during his trip to the UN later this month.  And amazingly obama has said no.  Among the things clogging obama's schedule during the Israeli leader's trip is an appearance on Letterman.  But even if he was meeting with the defense secretary and congressional leaders, he needed to make time for Mr. Netanyahu.  Over there, the Muslim Brotherhood has installed governments in Egypt and Libya and is circling for the kill in Syria.  Weapons are being shipped through Iraq - where obama cut and ran way too soon - to Syria.  Americans are being pummeled in public, both literally and figuratively.  The American ambassador to Libya has been butchered.

Governor Romney criticized obama for something or the other - the list of things to berate obama about is book length - today and Mainstream media ganged up on him.  How useless are these people.  They are ganging up on the one competent person who is trying to be president for what reason?  They want obama to be elected again.  Really?  Would they let a blind surgeon operate on their brain?  You cannot be any worse than obama, and the genius brigade wants him in again.  Egads!  Anyway, somebody turned a tape recorder on while these people were plotting to embarrass Gov. Romney.  Talk about a bunch of...just fill in the blank.  Total humiliation.  Some female is heard telling some other "journalists," you do this and that way he'll have to answer.  Someone explain to me why Romney even lets them get near him.  Have you seen the way they acted when he went to Europe.  Have you seen these soccer hooligans when they're drunk?  One conservative, on hearing the tape of this disgraceful behavior, wondered if they'd ask obama how he screwed up in Egypt and Libya and Syria, laying a red carpet down for the Muslim Brotherhood.  Well of course not.  But they sure did ask Romney some nasty questions.

What it said on the internet

He has been, by any measure, the worst president in the history of the United States.  "Herbert Hoover," you say.  He is really worse than Herbert Hoover?  Yes.  Hoover, at least, meant well.  Obama apparently wants the economy to continue as it is, sliding down the tracks to armageddon.

"He wants to fail?" I hear you say.  Not exactly.  He is teaching those American types a lesson in humility. The American dream is being slapped in the face for no apparent reason.  Dr. King's dream is being choked as it opens in bloom. The thing is, he did this without telling the voters that he was going to.  Unless you vetted him yourself - the press sure as hell didn't - you didn't see this coming.

{There is some nonsense out there in the media that anyone who criticizes obama is a racist.  This is not true.  But anyone who mouths ideas like that are certainly racist.}

Polling firms, many of which are left wing operatives, are making the election seem close.  The idea is to discourage voters into thinking obama's re-election is inevitable.  Maybe some won't vote.  That's what they hope.

On Friday night Mark Levin went into some of the things that are certainties if obama were to be re-elected.  It will be ugly.  It will not be American.  The country will have a next to impossible time recovering and really, if obama were re-elected it has to be assumed America as we know it will slip from the world stage and become nothing but a memory.  A generation will grow up thinking this misery is the way things are.  Imagine that.

I don't think anything bothers me more than the mass media and elites who act like this is a good thing.  They actually work to re-elect such a minor intellect with wild ideas.  Say anything you want about Mitt Romney, he is not obama.  He may well be capable of being an outstanding president.  I believe he has the ability.

Watching this election is exactly like watching a successful person - you name the race, sex, and any other demographic you want - try to decide whether to go on being successful, wonderful, helpful, beautiful, noble or instead to kill him or her self.  It is that stark.

Maryland outplays UCLA; settles for 2-2 tie, then crushes California, 6-0

If you arrived at the Maryland-UCLA soccer showdown Friday night with 23 minutes left in the opening half - as I did - you are still waiting to see UCLA score.  If you arrived at the Maryland-California game Sunday night at halftime, you might think the two teams from opposite coasts were evenly matched.

After 22 minutes of back and forth with UCLA, Maryland's offense clicked.  It was as if a different game had begun.  Suddenly, UCLA was jammed back against its goal, having trouble clearing and having trouble containing Maryland's very young and very quick front line.  The Bruins, and their talented keeper, Juan Cervantes, limited the swarming Terps to a single goal over almost 70 minutes, even though Maryland outshot the Bruins 22-9.  That goal came on a penalty kick by Maryland's leading scorer, John Stertzer.  But the penalty kick resulted when a desperate Bruin interior defense took down Maryland freshman Tshumo Schillo.  Schillo and his freshman classmates were way too quick and fast for UClA. On the play resulting in the penalty kick, Schillo and at least two other Terps were streaking through the box in front of Cervantes while another Terp prepared a close-in cross.  The take-down saved the goal, if only for a minute.    Except for some semi-serious forays late in the second overtime, UCLA never exhibited much offense after the two early goals.  They were constantly bottled up in their own end trying to stop Maryland's extremely explosive  front line.

Sunday night was another mismatch, but the Bears kept it close for a half.  Then Maryland exploded for five second half goals en route to a stunning 6-0 blow out.  Jordan Cyrus, who has seen his minutes diminish as the freshman arrived then thrived, scored two goals to pace the Terps, ranked sixth and undefeated at 2-0-1.  Patrick Mullins had a goal and two assists, Freshman Tsubasa Endoh had a goal and an assist, and Stertzer and Schillo also scored.  It was Stertzer's goal in the opening half that put Maryland ahead to stay.

The Terps play their first regular season road game this Friday when they open their ACC schedule at powerful Boston College.
