Is it Possible to Believe, Realistically, That Marxist Dictators are Good, Noble and Decent People?

TOWSON, Maryland, Thursday, August 31, 2017 - On CNN last night, the pro-Marxist son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who is known as Chris Cuomo or Fredo Cuomo, was taken to the proverbial woodshed by Presidential Advisor Kellyanne Elizabeth Conway (née Fitzpatrick; born January 20, 1967).  Rush Limbaugh graced listeners with a replay of the butt kicking on his show today, which is where I heard it for the first time.

Limbaugh led into last night's episode by playing some previous except wherein Fredo regaled listeners with some Cuomo Family History.  The shirt he was wearing in a picture he was showing was actually gifted to his father by Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro.  Mario Cuomo then gave it to his son, together with what it meant to him,  Fredo Cuomo explained that the Castro Shirt, to him, represented the promise of Marxism that all poor people will be raised up to a place where they are equal to the citizens who are economically best off.

Whether Marxism actually means that to anyone; or, in other words, whether anyone is really so utterly naive that they actually believe Marxists buy into something so noble, is not the subject here.  What is at issue is whether, in reality, anyone actually believes that Marxists are noble and idealistic.

I am very idealistic.  I believe, in my heart, that there are good men and good women who have noble, kind and ethical hearts and noble, kind and ethical minds.  That does not mean that there are men or women, now or in the past, who are really of such a nature in a perfect way.  No one - save for Christ, St. Francis, St. Stephen the Martyr, St. Polycarp, St. Gabriel, St. George, and St. Michael - is totally or even nearly totally, of a perfect nature.  Even the best of men and women have demons.

This is a very philosophical subject and worthy of enlightened debate.  Marxists, however, are not included in the categories of those approaching perfection, at least not those who have stood before the public.

Fidel Castro was a woeful and very evil man.  He had tens of thousands of men and women put to death.  He allowed thousands more to die trying to escape his Island Hell.  They drowned.  They were shot while passengers in shoddy "boats."  They had their shoddy crafts shot out from under them in the open sea.

There are Hollywood types who actually buy into Castro's utopian jive. From time to time one or more of them appear on TV to praise the free health care available in Cuba.  Like everything else about Cuba, it is all an illusion.  The poor and downtrodden get downtrodden health care.   His brother,Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz, the current dictator and sadist in chief, is, if anything, worse.  Don't think I am writing "sadist" in passing.

President Obama tried bravely to reach out to Raúl, but, for all his game efforts received little more than a slap in the face.  The USA and Cuba exchanged diplomats and opened embassies in the respective capital cities.  Obama hoped for a real thawing of relations, but nothing good came of it.  Like I said, things between the nations are very cold, and it is all because of the belligerent and obnoxious way that Cuba and, in particular, Raúl, acted.  Raúl acted like a cheap dictator.  And that is what he is.  It may be that things will improve after he takes his trip on the downbound train.  That is a train that cannot leave soon enough.

Bald Faced Lies Told By Mainstream Media; Holy See Publishes Condensed Biography of Pope Francis; Orioles Rally Past Seattle To Win 7th Straight

TOWSON, Maryland, Thursday, August 31, 2017 - The essential Rush Limbaugh commented today during his daily broadcast that he has never before witnessed the kind of behavior such as is being exhibited on an everyday basis by the mainstream media.  The media's willingness to tell baseless, out of all context bald-faced lies about President Trump is something he has never witnessed before in a lifetime of broadcasting, he said.  Mr. Limbaugh commented at length on the nature of the lies being spread by the media.  He was beyond incredulous that the lies being promoted by the media don't even have a hint of truth.  They are unrelated to anything in the news or the culture; they are publishing things that are lies pure and simple, and the lies they tell are completely disgusting in nature.

It is as if the only thing in the world that matters to these people is getting rid of a duly elected President, and the people who voted and put him in the office can be completely dammed.

Mr. Limbaugh is not the only observer to make similar observations.  Mark Levin and Sean Hannity - along with Mr. Limbaugh, they comprise the essential broadcast triumvirate at the forefront of the American Scene - have also voiced similar observations and similar conclusions.  The question that arises is what is it about the current situation that makes the 'so-called media' so willing to tell these simply outrageous lies?

Speaking personally, I could not agree more with these observations.  Only a total fool would deny the accuracy of their observations.  As to why now, well, that is a real issue.  Doesn't the left realize how corrupt and disliked the candidate they nominated was?  That fact has been almost absent from discussions of President Trump's victory.  As I have explained countless times in this blog, I am a lifelong Democrat who would have voted for almost any decent Democrat.  But my party nominated one of the few people I would absolutely not vote for under any circumstances.  The fact that my party has given total control of the party to people who are not liberal and are not honest and noble is the real untold story of the current political situation.  I am a liberal but I am not a leftist.  The people at the top of the party at the DNC and in Congress are hardcore leftists.  They are against everything that is American.  Everything!  The Democrat Party has basically ceased to exist.

Biography of Pope Francis Appears at Web Page of the Holy See
From time to time I check the web page of the Holy See in Rome.  If you've perused my "profile" on the front page of the blog (I didn't put it there; I filled out a questionnaire when I started the blog and that is where the web master placed my responses.) you know that I am a Missouri Synod Lutheran who is, nevertheless, very pro-Roman Catholic.  I have differences with my Church's views on the papacy, and there are other perceived differences between Lutherans and Catholics that I believe are extremely overblown.  Anyway, don't look to this blog to see criticism of the Roman Catholic Church.  Do look to this blog to find positive comments about the Catholic Church.  I believe that the mission of the entire Christian Church - Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Anglicans etc. - is to spread the Good News and Saving Grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

To that end, I found this condensed biography of Pope Francis at the Holy See's Web Page.  Here it is, in its entirety, with all credit for same to the names provided therein:

BIOGRAPHY
OF THE HOLY FATHER FRANCIS:

 Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio

The first Pope of the Americas Jorge Mario Bergoglio hails from Argentina. The 76-year-old Jesuit Archbishop of Buenos Aires is a prominent figure throughout the continent, yet remains a simple pastor who is deeply loved by his diocese, throughout which he has travelled extensively on the underground and by bus during the 15 years of his episcopal ministry.

“My people are poor and I am one of them”, he has said more than once, explaining his decision to live in an apartment and cook his own supper. He has always advised his priests to show mercy and apostolic courage and to keep their doors open to everyone. The worst thing that could happen to the Church, he has said on various occasions, “is what de Lubac called spiritual worldliness”, which means, “being self-centred”. And when he speaks of social justice, he calls people first of all to pick up the Catechism, to rediscover the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes. His project is simple: if you follow Christ, you understand that “trampling upon a person’s dignity is a serious sin”.

Despite his reserved character — his official biography consists of only a few lines, at least until his appointment as Archbishop of Buenos Aires — he became a reference point because of the strong stances he took during the dramatic financial crisis that overwhelmed the country in 2001.

He was born in Buenos Aires on 17 December 1936, the son of Italian immigrants. His father Mario was an accountant employed by the railways and his mother Regina Sivori was a committed wife dedicated to raising their five children. He graduated as a chemical technician and then chose the path of the priesthood, entering the Diocesan Seminary of Villa Devoto. On 11 March 1958 he entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus. He completed his studies of the humanities in Chile and returned to Argentina in 1963 to graduate with a degree in philosophy from the Colegio de San José in San Miguel. From 1964 to 1965 he taught literature and psychology at Immaculate Conception College in Santa Fé and in 1966 he taught the same subject at the Colegio del Salvatore in Buenos Aires. From 1967-70 he studied theology and obtained a degree from the Colegio of San José.

On 13 December 1969 he was ordained a priest by Archbishop Ramón José Castellano. He continued his training between 1970 and 1971 at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain, and on 22 April 1973 made his final profession with the Jesuits. Back in Argentina, he was novice master at Villa Barilari, San Miguel; professor at the Faculty of Theology of San Miguel; consultor to the Province of the Society of Jesus and also Rector of the Colegio Máximo of the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology.

On 31 July 1973 he was appointed Provincial of the Jesuits in Argentina, an office he held for six years. He then resumed his work in the university sector and from 1980 to 1986 served once again as Rector of the Colegio de San José, as well as parish priest, again in San Miguel. In March 1986 he went to Germany to finish his doctoral thesis; his superiors then sent him to the Colegio del Salvador in Buenos Aires and next to the Jesuit Church in the city of Córdoba as spiritual director and confessor.

It was Cardinal Antonio Quarracino, Archbishop of Buenos Aires, who wanted him as a close collaborator. So, on 20 May 1992 Pope John Paul II appointed him titular Bishop of Auca and Auxiliary of Buenos Aires. On 27 May he received episcopal ordination from the Cardinal in the cathedral. He chose as his episcopal motto, miserando atque eligendo, and on his coat of arms inserted the ihs, the symbol of the Society of Jesus.

He gave his first interview as a bishop to a parish newsletter, Estrellita de Belém. He was immediately appointed Episcopal Vicar of the Flores district and on 21 December 1993 was also entrusted with the office of Vicar General of the Archdiocese. Thus it came as no surprise when, on 3 June 1997, he was raised to the dignity of Coadjutor Archbishop of Buenos Aires. Not even nine months had passed when, upon the death of Cardinal Quarracino, he succeeded him on 28 February 1998, as Archbishop, Primate of Argentina and Ordinary for Eastern-rite faithful in Argentina who have no Ordinary of their own rite.

Three years later at the Consistory of 21 February 2001, John Paul ii created him Cardinal, assigning him the title of San Roberto Bellarmino. He asked the faithful not to come to Rome to celebrate his creation as Cardinal but rather to donate to the poor what they would have spent on the journey. As Grand Chancellor of the Catholic University of Argentina, he is the author of the books: Meditaciones para religiosos (1982), Reflexiones sobre la vida apostólica (1992) and Reflexiones de esperanza (1992).

In October 2001 he was appointed General Relator to the 10th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Episcopal Ministry. This task was entrusted to him at the last minute to replace Cardinal Edward Michael Egan, Archbishop of New York, who was obliged to stay in his homeland because of the terrorist attacks on September 11th. At the Synod he placed particular emphasis on “the prophetic mission of the bishop”, his being a “prophet of justice”, his duty to “preach ceaselessly” the social doctrine of the Church and also “to express an authentic judgement in matters of faith and morals”.

All the while Cardinal Bergoglio was becoming ever more popular in Latin America. Despite this, he never relaxed his sober approach or his strict lifestyle, which some have defined as almost “ascetic”. In this spirit of poverty, he declined to be appointed as President of the Argentine Bishops’ Conference in 2002, but three years later he was elected and then, in 2008, reconfirmed for a further three-year mandate. Meanwhile in April 2005 he took part in the Conclave in which Pope Benedict XVI was elected.

As Archbishop of Buenos Aires — a diocese with more than three million inhabitants — he conceived of a missionary project based on communion and evangelization. He had four main goals: open and brotherly communities, an informed laity playing a lead role, evangelization efforts addressed to every inhabitant of the city, and assistance to the poor and the sick. He aimed to reevangelize Buenos Aires, “taking into account those who live there, its structure and its history”. He asked priests and lay people to work together. In September 2009 he launched the solidarity campaign for the bicentenary of the Independence of the country. Two hundred charitable agencies are to be set up by 2016. And on a continental scale, he expected much from the impact of the message of the Aparecida Conference in 2007, to the point of describing it as the “Evangelii Nuntiandi of Latin America”.

Until the beginning of the recent sede vacante, he was a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, the Congregation for the Clergy, the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the Pontifical Council for the Family and the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.

He was elected Supreme Pontiff on 13 March 2013.

Sports: Orioles Rally From 4 Runs Down, Defeat Mariners, 8-7.  Wild Card Race Tightens As Even Yankees Have Fallen Back To Pack, Making 2 Wild Card Berths Available
Behind, 6-2, after Seattle batted in the third inning, the Orioles came storming back yet again and eventually defeated the Mariners, 8-7, for their 7th consecutive victory.  Jonathon Schoop's RBI single in the bottom of the 8th broke a 7-7 tie, and Zach Britton retired Seattle in the 9th to earn his 13th save.

The win keeps the Orioles one and one-half games behind Minnesota for the second wild card spot, but another Yankees defeat - actually two defeats to the Indians on the same day - dropped the Bronx Bombers to just 1 game ahead of the Twins, 2 ahead of the Angels and two and one-half ahead of the surging Orioles.

Ubaldo Jimenez was shelled for 6 runs in the Seattle 3rd to put the Mariners ahead, 6-2.  But then the Orioles got to work.  Trey Mancinni's 23rd home run and an RBI double by Wellington Castillo had put Baltimore ahead, 2-0, before Seattle struck.  After the Seattle Explosion, Castillo (who went 4-4) hit a 2-run homer, and Craig Gentry also homered in the Baltimore 4th.  One inning later, Schoop homered (his 29th) to tie the score.

The Orioles took the lead briefly in the 7th on Manny Machado's sacrifice fly.  Seattle tied it in the top of the 8th, but Schoop's single in the bottom of the 8th put the Birds ahead to stay.  Brad Brach, who surrendered a home run to Mitch Haniger to tie the score in the top of the 8th, was nonetheless credited with the win.

The Orioles open a four-game home series with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight at Camden Yards.

Bundy Throws Shutout Magic Against Mariners; Complete Game One-Hitter is First for Former No. 1 Draft Pick

TOWSON, Maryland, Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30, 2017 - Tonight in the Major Leagues, Dylan Bundy of the Orioles spun a masterful one hit complete game shut out, and his teammates contributed four solo homers in an impressive 4-0 win over the Seattle Mariners.  It was Baltimore's sixth straight victory and Seattle's fourth straight loss.

Entering play today, there were seven American League Teams separated by only three games, all of them seeking the second and final wild card playoff berth in the American League.  Minnesota owned that wild card playoff berth entering today's games.

Even with the win, the Orioles remained one and one-half games behind Minnesota, which also won tonight, beating the White Sox, 6-4.  The win leaves the Twins with a record of 68 wins and 63 losses.  The Orioles' sixth straight victory puts their record at 67 wins and 65 defeats.

There is still one team between the Twins and the Orioles in the crowded Wild Card race.  By beating the Athletics, 8-2, the Angels remained one game behind the Twins.  The Angels are tied in the loss column with the Orioles in the Wild Card race, but California has one more win than does Baltimore.  Seattle (66-67), Kansas City (65-66) and Texas (65-66) are all 3 games behind the Twins.  Tampa Bay (66-68) is three and one-half games behind the Twins.  Toronto (61-71), losers of three straight games and eight out of the last ten, is now seven and one-half games off of the Twins' pace.

The only hit surrendered by Dylan Bundy, now 13-8, came in the fourth inning when Kyle Seager singled.  The 24-year-old struck out a career-high 12 Mariner batters.  Bundy was only recalled to the Orioles' active roster today after being on bereavement leave due to the death of his grandmother.  To make room for Bundy on the 25-man active roster, Donnie Hart was optioned back to Class AAA Norfolk after getting the win in Monday night's Oriole victory over the Mariners.

SPORTS: Orioles Pull Ever Closer in AL Wild Card Battle; Burnley Rises on Premier Table After Late Goal Earns Draw With Tottenham: Maryland Opens Home Soccer Slate With Victory Over Hofstra

TOWSON, Maryland, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 - After beating the Seattle Mariners, 7-6, last night at Camden Yards, the Baltimore Orioles have won 5 consecutive Major League Baseball Games.  And these five straight wins are not meaningless wins; on the contrary, they have come at a time of the season when Baltimore dearly needed something like this to change their fortunes in the standings.  To put it mildly, the Orioles' fortunes were badly sagging prior to this winning streak.  A whole lot of Oriole fans were starting to whisper, some quite loudly, the old baseball refrain that says "Wait 'til next year."

Before this winning streak started, the Orioles were some 4 and one-half games behind in the battle for the second and final wild card playoff position.

Were the season to end today, the Orioles would still be on the outside looking in at the teams in the playoffs.  But now, instead of trying to peer over the Great Wall of China, the Orioles task can be compared to peeking over a short fence.  In this morning's American League Wild Card Standings, the Orioles sit a mere one and one-half games behind the team currently holding the second wild card position.  In addition, instead of there being a half dozen teams between the Orioles and the Second Wild Card Spot, there is only one. This is the American League Wild Card Race, up to this very minute (which is 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017):

New York Yankees: 70 Wins, 60 Losses, +3 Games Ahead
Minnesota Twins: 67 Wins, 63 Losses, Even
Los Angeles Angels: 67 Wins, 65 Losses, 1 Game Behind
Baltimore Orioles: 66 Wins, 65 Losses, 1.5 Games Behind
Seattle Mariners: 66 Wins, 66 Losses, 2 Games Behind
Tampa Bay Rays: 66 Wins, 67 Losses, 2.5 Games Behind
Kansas City Royals: 64 Wins, 66 Losses, 3 Games Behind
Texas Rangers: 64 Wins, 66 Losses, 3 Games Behind
Toronto Blue Jays: 61 Wins, 70 Losses, 6.5 Games Behind
Oakland Athletics: 58 Wins, 73 Losses, 9.5 Games Behind
Detroit Tigers: 57 Wins, 73 Losses, 10 Games Behind
Chicago White Sox: 52 Wins, 77 Losses, 14.5 Games Behind

In last night's game, Adam Jones hit his 25th Home Run and Wellington Castillo drove in two runs for the Orioles, who broke out of a 6-6 tie with a single run in the 7th inning, which the bullpen held.  Chris Davis' double drove in the winning run, and lefthander Donnie Hart pitched a perfect inning to get the win.  Zach Britton earned his 12th save.

The Jones Home Run made Oriole History because it made Jones the first Oriole to hit 25 homers in 7 consecutive seasons, breaking Cal Ripken's record.

New Signee Chris Wood Scores In Add-On Time To Earn Burnley a Draw With Tottenham at Wembley Stadium
At legendary Wembley Stadium, Burnley was looking up at Tottenham the entire Second Half after Dele Alli gave the Hot Spurs the lead early in the second stanza.  But with time running out in injury time, the money the Clarets paid to sign Chris Wood paid off in a big way.  Wood took a breathtaking pass from Robby Brady and in one motion beat the Spurs Keeper, Hugo Lloris.

The Telegraph's outstanding soccer writer, Gerry Cox, said he didn't know if it was the curse that Wembley Stadium has on Tottenham - where the Hot Spurs are, for now, playing their home matches while their stadium is worked on - or what he called Burnley's "never say die spirit."  I like the latter.  And the look on the faces of the Claret after Wood scored backs me up.  It was a magical moment.

You'd have had to see the match to know how well Tom Heaton played, but it looked all for naught until Wood scored.  Burnley now stands 10th on the Premier Table with 4 points after three matches.

Maryland Opens Home Schedule With 2-0 Win Over Hofstra; Gordon Wild Gets First 2017 Goal
An early own-goal and a score in the second half by Gordon Wild, combined with a defense that erased a lot of bad memories. pushed No. 6 Maryland past Hofstra on Monday night, 2-0.

The wind was again blustery at Ludwig Field, reminding some of the horrible night in December when the last season ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Providence rode that wind to a mind-numbing comeback win over Maryland.  Last night, the wind helped the Terps score in the fourth minute. A failed clear by Hofstra started the very bad result for the visitors.

In the second half, Wild tallied his first goal of the season after being held scoreless in the win at Santa Clara on Friday.  The Terps will entertain No. 15 UCLA Friday night in a game to be televised nationwide by the Big Ten Network.

The NCAA carries the United Soccer Coach's Poll at NCAA.com.  That poll has Stanford Ranked No. 1.  The Cardinal gained 23 of 24 first place votes.

Harvey Heads Into Louisiana While Assault on Texas Gulf Coast Continues

TOWSON, Maryland, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 - In New Orleans yesterday, the citizens began lining up for government-issued sand bags.  The outside bands of now-tropical storm Harvey were overhead with showers.  Nobody here needs to be reminded about what could be next.  Harvey, for now, is still west of New Orleans, but forecasters say it will make land fall today.

All Along the Texas Gulf Coast, flat bottomed boats are in high demand.  Even in the middle of the night, small boats are moving up and down what used to be streets on dry land.  The flat bottoms allow the vessels to move in shallow water.  Whenever a citizen is spotted, they are asked if they want to stay or go.  If their answer is "go" - as it most often is - they are invited aboard and taken to the nearest  drop off center.

There were reports of tornados all along the Gulf Coast.  But by far the biggest danger was the rising waters.  If the forecast of 50 inches of rain proves true, it is hard to imagine what the Gulf Coast will look like or how long it would take before the flood waters recede.  Where will the flood waters go?  A huge reservoir, which up to now has kept its millions of gallons of water out of the rising flood, is reported to be only inches from the top of its capacity.  No one thinks it will hold the rising waters, and when the water comes out of the reservoir and into its spillway, a bad situation will get worse, a lot worse.

Of course, the Gulf is a resilient body of water.  People remember the BP disaster of early in the Obama years.  An oil well in very deep water blew off its drilling head and began spilling tens of thousands of raw crude oil into the Gulf.  It took weeks to cap the well.  There were predictions of tens of thousands of square miles of Gulf Water being a marine grave yard, and none of it came true.  Within a month it was hard to find any oil in the Gulf of Mexico, even at ground zero.  Apparently, large bodies of salt water have built-in ways of dealing with such pollutants.  Obama sent Justice Department Lawyers to the scene, looking to indict BP
folk for their "crimes."  Turned out the Obama EPA had just awarded BP several medals for environmental responsibility.

Sadly for Obama, no crimes were broken.  No indictments were returned.

The National Weather Service said this about today's weather on the Gulf Coast, " Tropical Storm Harvey is forecast to move slowly north-northeast across the
lower Sabine River Valley into central Louisiana through
the period."

Officials said the official death toll for the storm was just six, but fears are rising that the toll will rise rapidly as areas now cut off from the outside world are accessed.

Harvey's Devastation Sets In Along Texas Gulf Coast

TOWSON, Maryland, Saturday, August 26, 2017 - It is just around noon on Saturday, August 26, 2017, and Hurricane Harvey has made landfall now for several hours.  In fact, as predicted, the storm has stalled over or near Rockport, a town on the the state's Gulf Coast.  The Mayor of Rockport, Charles J. Wax, said in a television interview that just ended, that Rockport was in need of the nation's prayers.

The Mayor is trying to get a clear picture of the physical devastation caused by the storm coming ashore.  At the same time, his town and its emergency workers are doing all they can to prepare for the expected 35 to 40 inches of rain, rain caused by a hurricane that is basically stopping right on top of Rockport.

President Trump has authorized the full resources of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The Texas National Guard has activated over 1,500 troops.

Up and down the Texas Coast, emergency workers who are able to respond are conducting search and rescue operations for those Texans who chose not to evacuate.  Television Station KVUE in Austin has reported widespread power outages all up and down the Texas Gulf Coast.  The full impact and amount of physical damage is till be assessed, but it is obvious that the damage is almost unimaginable.

A Hurricane of Almost Biblical Proportions, A Missile Shot Into a Powder Keg; And in the Face of Such Turmoil, an Ultra Left Group Says Christians are a Hate Group; Trump Pardons Arpaio; Orioles Crush Red Sox, 16-3, Pull Within 3 Games of Last Wild Card Spot; No. 6 Maryland Defeats Santa Clara, 4-2, in NCAA Soccer Opener; Rozhansky Scores Twice for Terps

TOWSON, Maryland, Friday, August 25, 2017 - This is how far gone the Ultra Left is.  As a hurricane of unprecedented, even Biblical proportions, zeroes in on a populated area of the Texas Coast, even as a lunatic with nuclear weapons defies all bounds of common sense, common decency, and mankind's eternal desire for peace, and fires a missile into a powder keg situation; and in the face of all of this, the Ultra Far Left has chosen this moment to begin labeling mainline Christian Groups which oppose Gay Marriage - because that is what the Bible Says They Need to Do - Ultra Far Left political groups have begun labeling these mainline Christian Groups "Hate Groups."

You are Christian.  Like Millions and Millions of Christians, you support the Family Research Council, which lobbies for Christian Causes in Congress and in State Legislatures, and is conservative by nature.  But now, the fine people at the Southern Poverty Law Center - one of the least understood and most Ultra Leftist Groups in the entire world - now says that any group that echoes Biblical Teaching About Homosexuality - and, hence, opposes Gay Marriage, is a hate group.

To state it plainly: if you are a Christian and because you are a Christian you oppose Gay Marriage, and you support one of any number of mainline Christian organizations that also oppose Gay Marriage, you now support Hate Groups. ,

Is the Southern Poverty Law Center a Hate Group?  Do they Hate Christians?  Or do they merely label Christians a Hate Group to gain political mileage? Is evil afoot at SPLC?  Seems so.

A Storm Surge of 12 feet, Rainfall Totals of 3 FEET, and Five Straight Days of Hurricane Weather: All Beginning Now in Galveston, Corpus Christi and Even Houston
All of this on a night when it literally appears that a hurricane and a dangerous wind pattern have combined to visit unimaginable terror to the Texas Gulf Coast.  Weather Forecasters are saying that the strong hurricane - "Harvey" the hurricane is a Category 3 Storm - is going to combine with a wind pattern that almost always presents itself far out to sea - to visit a twelve foot storm surge and an unimaginable three feet of rain - on the Texas Gulf Coast.  Add all of this to the usual havoc caused by so strong a storm: winds over 100 miles per hour, flying debris that can kill a human who is out in the storm, broken communications, unpassable roads, destroyed dwellings, among other sinister happenings; and you have the makings of a storm for the ages.

A storm for the ages.  It is worth mentioning twice because this storm - if all of the forecasts hold true - will likely be one no one will ever forget.  It is likely that the storm will destroy the Texas Coast in such a way that it will never again resemble what it was before the storm.  And this tremendous and lasting destruction will not be confined to a narrow strip of coastal land.  It will devastate the Coastal Community for miles inland.  There may be new rivers cut through the land that remains, there may be new bays and new creeks.

You may not recognize what emerges.  You may not be able to find the place where you used to live.

In the face of this destructive possibility, some Texans still say they will not evacuate.  Those folk - call them unbelievably brave or just plane nuts - have been told that once the storm makes land fall no one will try to come to their aide.  Such rescues will be impossible and will inflict almost certain disaster to a rescuer that chooses to try.

With All of This Going On, Kim Jong-un Launches 3 Missiles, But All of Them are Flops
The Daily Mail in London and other outlets report tonight that the lunatic leader of North Korea is again launch missiles.  This time, by the Grace of the Good Lord, they were all flops, just like him.

This is the banner headline the Daily Mail placed on its on-line editions:"Kim goes ballistic again: Brazen despot taunts Trump as North Korea blasts THREE missiles into the Sea of Japan while his US rival deals with the looming disaster of Hurricane Harvey in Texas".  The Daily Mail requests that when you use something from their on-line editions you include the following:

According to the Daily Mail, "North Korea has launched three short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan in a further taunting of US president Donald Trump - but they were all duds.

The US military said that two of the missiles failed in flight and the other blew up 'almost immediately'.

South Korea's Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said it was analysing the missiles.

They said: 'The military is keeping a tight surveillance over the North to cope with further provocations'.

While, in fact, the United States military released information about the North Korea launches, there has been no comment by the White House or by President Trump himself.

President Trump pardons Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio
After hinting strongly that he intended to pardon Former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio for weeks, President Trump tonight did the deed.  The popular yet controversial law man had been convicted by an Ultra Leftist Obama-appointed Judge of violating her order preventing him from arresting Latinos who had crossed the Mexican border without proper authority.  In other words, the illegal immigrants were acting illegally, but Arpaio, the sheriff, was not allowed to take action.

Ultra Leftists took to Social Media sites to condemn the President, and even some Republicans were critical.  But attorney and author Joseph Kerry summed up the feelings of many Americans when he tweeted, "Trump pardons Sheriff Joe. CNN goes off the rails. Two words, "Marc Rich" .

Orioles Humiliate Red Sox
The game is now over, and for the Red Sox, it couldn't come soon enough.  Playing in Fenway Park, the Orioles crushed the Red Sox, 16-3.  Trade Deadline Acquisition Jeremy Hellickson scattered just four hits over seven innings, and the Orioles exploded for a breathtaking 16 runs on 20 hits.  The rout included 5 Boston errors and two Oriole home runs.  All five errors by the Red Sox led to Oriole scores.  The homers were by Mark Trumbo (his 2) and Jonathon Schoop (his 28th).  Trey Mancini knocked in 4 runs with three hits, including a triple.

The win enabled Baltimore to stay just three games behind Minnesota in the jumbled battle for the final American League Wild Card Berth.  Some 8 teams are within 6 games of each other in that fascinating playoff fight.  Here is the American League Wild Card Standings:

New York Yankees: 68-59, +2.5 games
Minnesota Twins: 66-62, Even
Seattle Mariners: 66-63, .5 games behind
Los Angeles Angels: 65-63, 1 game behind
Kansas City Royals: 64-63, 1.5 games behind

In other Oriole news, x-rays and an examination of the knee of closer Zach Britton showed no fracture or other damage.  Buck Showalter said before the Friday evening game that Britton would not need to be placed on the DL.

No. 6 Maryland Scores Three Consecutive First Half Goals In 4-2 Victory Over Santa Clara; Rozhansky Scores in Each Half to Lead Terps
Jake Rozhansky, Eric Matzelevitch and Eryk Williamson each scored as Maryland ran off three straight first half goals, and Rozhansky scored again in the closing minutes to clinch Maryland's 4-2 Victory over Santa Clara.

In the opening game for both teams, Brandon Gillingham of the home-standing Broncos scored in the third minute to stun the Terps and put Santa Clara ahead, 1-0.

Williamson drew the Terps even in the 27th minute, and Matzelevitch put Maryland ahead in the 38th minute, after an assist from Rozhansky.  Then, not long before the half, Rozhansky scored himself with an assist from Williamson. Maryland led at the half, 3-1.

In the 77th minute, the Bronco's Valdemar Andersen scored to cut the Maryland lead to 3-2.  But with under three minutes to play, Rozhansky scored again for Maryland, with an assist to Sebastian Elney, to clinch the Terp victory.

Maryland Keeper Dane St. Clair made 4 saves.  The Terps narrowly outshot the home team, 11-9, after being tied in shots at the half, 7-7.  The Terps now return to College Park to open their home season on Monday night against Hofstra.  UCLA comes to College Park on Friday night.

Hurricane of Unprecedented Danger Begins to Attack Texas Coast; 12 Foot Storm Surge and 3 Foot Rain Total Called Possible; Hurricane Will Remain In Place for Up To 5 Days

TOWSON, Maryland, Friday, August 25, 2017 - A hurricane with an unprecedented pattern of winds - winds that will keep the storm hovering over the same areas of the Texas Coast for days on end - is threatening the Lone Star State with cataclysmic damage, great loss of life, large numbers of injuries, and unprecedented destruction of human dwelling places.

It is entirely possible that the force and destruction associated with Hurricane Harvey will be equal to or greater than what came with Hurricane Katrina.  President Trump has activated FEMA and ordered it to fully deploy all of its available resources.

The dangers from the storm are almost too great to properly document.  Look for tremendous destruction of living space.  Look for loss of oil production and agricultural destruction that will affect not only America, but nations around the world.

Weather experts say that the wind patterns that will arise and set the stage for tremendous destruction are not unusual, but when this happens at different times, the storms are far out to sea.  The unusual aspect of this wind pattern is that it is happening directly on the coast.  The winds will block the dangerous storm from moving on.  Instead, the storm will move only slightly and then return to the same areas that have already been hard hit.

As a result, the height of predicted storm surges are almost unbelievably high - 12 feet and more - and rainfall totals are also expected to be beyond anything that has been experienced before.

The last human to see rainfall totals like the ones expected from Hurricane Harvey was Noah and his family.  But unlike Noah, there is no ark available to Texans.

Forecasters say that rainfall will be measured in feet, not inches.  Three feet of rain is predicted.  Add that to the storm surge, the very very flat land on the Texas Coast, and the fact that this storm will last up to five days, and you have a recipe for unbelievable disaster.

All around Texas citizens are being evacuated.  Fox News just reported from the Coast at Galveston that the rain was falling sideways because of the high winds,  The Fox Reporter also said that the sea is churning at increasing amounts and the surge is, well, surging.  And the actual storm is still off shore.

The Maryland State Fair Opens In Timonium; It's a Wonderful Way to Spend a Late Summer Day or Evening; But Be Forewarned, Almost Everything Seems to Be Deep Fried, and Cost More Than You Thought It Would

TOWSON, Maryland, Thursday, August 24 and Friday, August 25, 2017 - The Maryland State Fair is open, and despite a load of negative publicity affecting state fairs in general, authorities here believe that this year's version of the annual Maryland get together will continue to draw record crowds.

A primary reason for the continued optimism of the folk who manage the Fair is the relatively reasonable fees charged for the goods and services sold there, and the unprecedented popularity of those goods and services with the people who pay to go to the Maryland State Fair..  Were you to purchase similar goods and services at other venues, you would pay loads more, especially if you had to purchase lodging at the same time.  Here in Timonium, the price asked for goods and for services that continue to be in demand is, arguably, quite  reasonable.  Those reasonable fees, coupled with adequate security and the amiable family type of atmosphere have Marylanders, Southern Pennsylvanians, and even some Virginians and West Virginians flocking up York Road to enter the Fair Grounds. Parking is either free or sold for very reasonable fees, especially when compared to the parking fees in downtown Baltimore and in the nation's capital. If your alternative destination is Ocean City, Virginia Beach, the Appalachian Mountains, or New York City, don't forget to add in what you'll pay for overnight accommodations and, in the case of New York, Ocean City and Virginia Beach, the extra amount you'll pay for food and entertainment.   Plus, the weather in these parts tends to moderate in late August - temperatures in Timonium this morning dipped into the mid to upper 50's, and only climbed into the upper 70's this afternoon.  All of this adds up to rewarding fair-goers with a very nice way to spend a late summer - or end of summer - afternoon or evening.

One of my favorite places at the fair (and I have quite a few) is the Maryland Food Pavilion.  The only foods and beverages on sale in the Maryland Food Pavilion are those produced, grown or raised in the Old Line State.  Maryland Lamb is sold here.  Maryland Corn - for my admittedly biased dollar, it is quite the bargain - is also on sale here, slathered in freshly drawn butter.  Soft crabs from the Chesapeake Bay or the Wye or Chester Rivers satisfy discriminating diners.  Maryland Beef, Maryland Chicken and Maryland Pork are also sold here.  Generally, the Trade Groups that promote these products year-round sponsor the stands that are selling the various Maryland products.

The crowds were quickly gathering once the gates opened at noon today (Friday).  The competitions among the young people who help raise all manner of farm animals and all manner of agricultural products are well underway by the opening hour.  Many that are on display are already displaying blue, red and white ribbons, meaning first, second or third prize in the various categories.  I saw some truly gorgeous animals, including horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and roosters, ducks, and even llamas.  Also, there were busy and well-kept bee hives, farm and agricultural craft displays, almost all of them put together by children who join the 4H.  Just as impressive are the submissions in the many agricultural competitions.  The pumpkins were big, but they were also proportionally grown and meticulously displayed.  You should see the vegetables, flowers, trees and other living things which are planted, lovingly nurtured, harvested and carefully prepared for submission to the judges of the competitions.

I have been told that the young people who care for the live stock and plants which are on display here spend countless hours with their charges.  At the Fair, many of the young people and more than a few parents bed right down with their cows, sheep, pigs, goats and horses,  They want to remain at the sides of the animals they have raised and nurtured.  These animals are sometimes frightened by the noise and lighting at the Fair, and the presence of their humans does a world of good for the animals.  The Fair lasts ten days, but the competitions are spread out throughout the entire fair run and no animal needs to be at the Fair for anywhere near the entire ten days.

Each animal is bathed, brushed, combed, curled and whatnot.

For non-Farm children and even non-Farm adults, the big attraction at the Maryland State Fair is the midway.  That is where the rides are, and that is where the games of chance are.  And, naturally, that is where the fried foods are.  One stand this year is marked by a huge high sign which screams in giant red letters, "Anything and Everything Deep Fried".  If you can name it, they have it and they are deep frying it.  They had deep fried pop tarts, deep fried candy bars, deep fried twinkies, deep fried hot dogs and deep fried deep fry.  Did I already say that?  If your veins aren't clogged when you get here, they will be clogged when you leave.

I have to tell you that I stay off the midway unless the folks I am there with want to go to the midway.  Often they do.  I will post some photographs that I took later today or tomorrow.  And there is some chance I will go to the Fair again tomorrow.  Admission for me was $6.  There are ways to get in for less and there are ways to be charged more.

It is, of course, quite easy to spend a lot of money at the Maryland State Fair.  One tip for not having that happen to you: don't take a lot with you.  Does that make me a Scrooge.  It is very difficult to do that if you have children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers, and young friends along with you.

Now, of course, you're saying, wait one minute, you said at the beginning of this article that the Fair had reasonable prices.  Then you say it is easy to spend a lot of money.  There is no contradiction.  Prices are not terrible.  But you are tempted to spend a lot, especially is you have children with you.  Does this straighten this out?

Burnley On To Third Round of Carabao Cup With 2-0 Whitewash of Blackburn in East Lancashire Derby

TOWSON, Maryland, Thursday, August 24, 2017 - It seems that fisticuffs and red cards are following the lads at Burnley everywhere they go.  Wednesday night, the Claret beat back their neighborhood rivals from dear ole' Blackburn, 2-0.  But it took dealing with a couple of nitwits who made their way onto the pitch from the stands. before the win was final.  Two "fans" were out of the stands and onto the pitch after Jack Cork put Burnley ahead in the 27th minute.  As one intruder "chatted" with Burnley's players, he suddenly pushed the Claret's Jack Tarkowski.  That "push" prompted Ashley Westwood to tackle the 'pushy' intruder.  After that, both intruders headed for the hills, or, more accurately, the stands.  But before they could clear the pitch, they were both 'greeted' by responding stewards and unceremoniously led  the rest of the way off.  Later, Sean Dyche, the Claret leader, expressed chagrin at the amount of time it took the stewards to react to the on-field activities.

The win gets Burnley into the third round of the Carabao Cup.  And with Blackburn relegated all the way down to League One, this match became the annual East Lancashire Derby.  For the uninitiated, Blackburn's Ewood Park and Burnley's legendary Fortress Turf Moor are only 15 miles away from each other.  Sadly, for Blackburn, it has been seven long years since it last won the Derby.  In that time, the Rovers have been relegated twice.  The Claret, of course, are in their second consecutive season in the Premier, and if you're keeping tabs on this type of thing, Burnley has been in the Top Flight during three of the past four seasons.

Burnley's scores came in the 27th minute, when Jack Cork headed in the goal, and in first half add on time on a wonderful move and shot by Robby Brady.  Brady broke past two Blackburn defenders and then, with a hard angle facing him, ripped a bullet into the upper far corner of the net.

Burnley is right back at it on Sunday (there was an error here earlier: your writer reported that the match was on Saturday. I do apologize) when they travel to Tottenham Hot Spur for an important Premier League show down.  Currently, the Claret are listed in 13th place, in a virtual tie with Chelsea, whom Burnley defeated on opening Saturday.

Hillary Writes That Trump Gives Her the Creeps (This From A Woman Married to a Known Philanderer); Poland Has Other EU Nations Upset Because Its Leaders Had the Good Common Sense to Avoid Participating in Middle East Refugee Resettlement; Mainstream Media Won't Report That Anti-Fa Protesters are Being Paid; Poland on Verge of Qualifying for World Cup

TOWSON, Maryland, Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24, 2017 - It's time to make a few comments about some different topics.

First: Hillary Clinton needs to contract with a conservative person to review any thought that crosses her mind before it gets made public.  Case in point:  In her forthcoming memoir, she says Donald Trump was creepy because he 'stalked' her during at least one of their pre-election debates.    People have reviewed videos of the debate in question.  Trump never got close to Hillary on his own.  In fact, the only time during the televised debate that Hillary was at all close to Trump was when she walked right in front of him, on her own volition.  But forget all of that.  This is a woman who has been married to a man who is one of the most notorious gropers of this or any other age.  But Trump is creepy.  Hillary is creepy.  She would do the entire American scene tremendous service if she would stay out of the public eye henceforth.  Note to Mr. Sessions:  A very good way of making this thought a reality would be a long overdue indictment.  Dare we suggest that the Attorney General seize this prescient moment and seek a long overdue indictment?

Second:  The European Union is extremely upset with Poland.  Poland is in the crosshairs of other European nations?  Who says history doesn't repeat itself? This time, the other European Governments are upset at Poland because the Polish had enough common sense and stunningly accurate foresight to refuse to take in Middle Eastern refugees.  So now, while Germany, Sweden, Denmark and other European nations reel under the tremendous negative influence, crime and economic drain of the out-of-control, overwhelmingly young, male, difficult to employ Middle Easterners, Poland is doing really really well.  Their economy is doing great, their people are free and generally happy, and their crime situation is not a crime problem.  And just because of that, the nitwits like Angela Merkel are really pissed off.  Merkel literally recruited refugees to come to Germany.  And come they did, millions of them.  And pay Germany has, and pay, and pay, and pay some more.  In the cities, Germans shut and lock their doors at dusk and don't come out until dawn.  Women have been assaulted in record numbers, and gang rapes are being reported in record numbers.  Merkel has changed much of her attitudes toward the Middle Easterners.  But it is too late.  Germany can't send them back because they don't want to go.

Third:  There are lots of things to be angry about when it comes to the mainstream media.  The cat is out of the bag when it comes to their obvious pro-Ultra Far Left posture.  The cat is out of the bag when it comes to the manner in which the mainstream Ultra Far Left Neo Marxist Media covers the President, Donald Trump.  But very few people have noted the extremely misleading way that the mainstream media writes and broadcasts about these miscreant 'Anti-Fa" Thug Protesters.  A great many of these 'protesters are being paid by George Soros and other well-heeled Ultra Leftists. Instead, the media reports on and creates the impression that these Ultra Left Thugs are just spontaneously reacting citizens.  The media desperately wants readers and viewers to believe that Americans generally are so upset with Donald Trump that they are jumping at any chance to make a public display of their passion.  This is not true.  Leftists generally are very few in number, and many of them want nothing to do with the thugs out in the streets with wooden planks with large nails driven into the end to enhance the pain and agony they can deliver to anyone struck with such a weapon.  There are no known instances of those on the right paying people to show up and protest.

Fourth:  (This piece is a corrected version of a post from July 18 of this year.  A number of errors were made in that post by your author, who failed to take into account that all UEFA teams have at least three matches remaining in Group Play leading up to the World Cup.  I think I have it correct this time.)

Only one match result thus far prevents Poland from taking a perfect record into the finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.  Only one, and, of course, there is the small matter of the three matches that Poland and all other UEFA teams have left to play.  The lone blemish on Poland's record came against the most unlikely of opponents.  On September 4, 2016 the Kazakhstan National Soccer Team, which has failed to win even one match in Group Play, managed to draw with Poland in front of over 19,000 fans at the ultra-modern  Astana Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan. In the match, Poland exploded to the lead in the ninth minute and increased the lead to 2-0 at the half.  The lead held in the opening minutes of the second half before Kazakhstan's Sergei Khizhnichenko scored twice in a seven minute span to earn the home team a draw. As it was, Kazakhstan had only this and one other draw to go with four defeats in group play.  Poland had only this match to blemish a perfect record.  Of course, the Poles still have three matches left to play.

The magical White Eagles have almost already qualified for the World Cup Finals in Russia. There are three matches remaining for each of the European Teams (UEFA Teams) in this first round of World Cup Qualifying.  Barring a complete collapse by the Poles - something nobody predicts - Poland will march into Moscow as one of the pre-tournament favorites.  Poland's remaining matches include a game at Denmark on September 1, a home match - to be played at Warsaw - with Kazakhstan on September 4, and another home match, also at Warsaw, with Montenegro on October 8.

Poland (5 wins, 0 defeats, 1 draw) leads its Division with 16 points, followed by two teams, Denmark (3 wins, 2 defeats, 1 draw) and Montenegro (3 wins, 2 defeats, 1 draw), each with 10 points.  Poland will win the division if they can win two of their remaining matches, or win one match and tie one match.  They will also win their division, no matter how well or poorly they play, if Denmark and Montenegro fail to win at least two of their remaining matches.

They have played that well. The second place team in the Group will play a home and home with another UEFA Division's Runner-Up to determine if it, too, can qualify to travel and compete in the Russia-based 2018 World Cup.  Robert Lewandowski, who scored the second goal in the match at Kazakhstan, on a penalty shot, leads all scorers in Group Play.  Lewandowski has scored an incredible 11 goals in six qualifying matches.  His closest runner-up has but 6.  In all of Europe, the best any other player could do was score barely over half of the number of goals scored by the incredible Lewandowski.

The way the World Cup works the qualifying in the UEFA Divisions is to send all nine division winners on to the finals.  Four other UEFA teams will also qualify.  Eight of the nine runner-ups in their respective divisions will be paired with another runner up, and the four pairs will play home and home matches.  The winner of those four home-and-home match-ups also are on to Moscow.  One of the nine runner-ups will be out of luck.  That out-of-luck runner up is the so-called ninth place runner-up.  The standings of the runners-ups will be figured based on the their won-loss-draw records against the top five teams in each division.  Seven of the nine divisions have six teams, while two of the nine have five teams.  The matches against the sixth place teams in the seven relevant divisions will not be counted in determining which of the nine runners-up is not going on to the second round.

Were I Wales, I would be worrying about the possibility of finishing second in its division and then being left out of further play because it has so many draws, which garner it only a single point per draw.  It is extremely important for Wales to win its remaining matches, not only to enhance its chances of moving up in the division standings, but also to avoid being the ninth place team among the divisional runners-up.

Poland has never won a World Cup.  It has earned a berth in the final round, however, on several occasions. Twice, Poland finished third overall in the World Cup: in 1974 and again in 1982.  This is Poland's best side since those years.  FIFA ranks them No. 6 in the World.  They might be quite a bit better than that; that is how good they are.  Lewandowski may be the World's best player.

Poland's magical run actually began in the first game they played after the end of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.  West Germany won that World Cup, and almost the exact same team that won the Cup took the pitch in Warsaw for a friendly against Poland in September.  Poland won.

The Poles carried that momentum into EURO 2016.  But after easily qualifying for the final round, they lost to Portugal in the quarter-finals - on penalty kicks.  The magical team in that tournament was Wales, which, ironically, is in deep trouble in their division in the World Cup Qualifying Round.  The Welsh stand in third place in Group D, four points behind Ireland (3 wins, 0 defeats, 3 draws) and Serbia (3 wins, 0 defeats, 3 draws).   Austria (2 wins, 2 defeats, 2 draws) also has 8 points in Group D, but Wales (1 win, 0 defeats, 5 draws) is the 'actual' third place team at the moment, based on Goal Differential (4 to 1).  All four of those nations have three matches left to play.  A match of tremendous importance takes place on September 2 at Cardiff, Wales, where the Welsh host Austria.

Also on September 2, Ireland visits Georgia (0 wins, 3 defeats, 3 draws) and Moldova (0 wins, 2 draws, 4 defeats) visits Serbia.  With the gutty and determined Welsh trailing the two division leaders by four points, they are almost in a win or else situation.  The good news about their situation is that they only need to beat out one of the two to qualify for Moscow (providing that they do not finish with the ninth best record among runner-ups).  Another bit of good news - or is it bad news - is that the Welsh no longer have Ireland or Serbia on their schedule.  Since they need a better overall result than at least one of the two teams ahead of it.  Serbia does have to play Ireland.  If Wales wins its remaining three matches and picks up 9 points, it will still need either Serbia or Ireland to lose or draw two of its remaining three matches.  One of those 'non-wins' will happen for one of the two teams ahead of Wales when Ireland plays Serbia.  But Wales will need at least a tie for that loser in one of the two remaining matches.  It is complicated.

Before losing that heartbreaker to Portugal, Poland had recorded a win over Germany (and a loss and a tie), The win and the loss were in Group Play, the tie was in Group Play in the final round, where Poland was grouped with Germany, Ukraine and Ireland.  Having nearly qualified for the finals, Poland drew powerful Switzerland in the first round of the 16-team final round.  The match ended in a draw and Poland and the Swiss advanced to a shootout.  Poland won.  In the quarter finals (the round of 8), the Poles took eventual Tournament Champ Portugal to the bitter end.  The match, including overtime, ended in a draw and both teams then advanced to a shootout.  Portugal has some of the most dynamic offensive players in the world and it provided the difference in a one goal shootout win.

The Poles do not believe they can lose again.

Testing the Moral Claims to Power: The Democrats Have Fallen Under the Total Control of the Neo-Marxist Ultra Left, but the GOP Acts As If They Do Not Want to Lead. That Leaves Donald Trump

TOWSON, Maryland, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 - Whether the right or the left have a morally superior claim to lead the nation is an issue that is consuming the United States and its citizens.  The left, in particular, is campaigning virulently, in an all out, no holds barred effort to be recognized as the confederation that may be best able to lead America.  The right seems less sure of its claim to lead.  Sometimes the right seems reluctant to even make such a claim in public.  But before the day can be conceded to the Neo Marxist Ultra Left, all those interested in the issue need to recognize this fact:  All across America, the Democrats and their ideology are being voted out of power.  In federal, state and local elections in virtually every state in the union, republicans are winning and democrats are losing.  Many times, these elections are not even close.

It would be most interesting to hear the Ultra Left analyze why they have lost so many of these elections.  The moderator of any such discussion will need to stay on their proverbial toes to keep the conversation on point rather permitting the Ultra Leftists to delve into so-called democratic talking points.  {A note to the moderator: if people in the audience are getting up from their seats and leaving, you've lost control of the night.  There is nothing worse for your average citizen than being forced to listen to a would-be Communist expounding on Marxist Talking Points.}

The Democrats have never before been put into this position.  A study of voting trends throughout American History reveal that only the GOP have seen their percentage of elected officials dip as low as the percentage of democrats holding elected office is today.  What is causing this?  I think I know the answer.

It is the rise of the Ultra Left.  Americans, generally, have a severe distaste for this very very small group.  Their characteristics seem to be a compendium of every trait historically hated by Americans in all walks of life.  They are a breed of fascist combined with low brow street thugs.  The result is a downright despicable group of people.  Worst of all, they have taken control of the Democrat Party.  If you don't buy into their debauched thinking, they don't want you.  Even though the number of Democrats holding elected office is astonishingly low, these Ultra Leftist street thugs and fascists show no sign of moderating their positions, their thoughts and their methods.

Ultra Leftists are prone to violence.  In fact, they openly admit to believing that violence is a means to an end.  But Americans as a rule abhor violence.  They recognize that the military must kill and destroy as part of their duties.  They recognize that the police have similar requirements when they confront the criminal element.  And Americans recognize that when their small areas where they live are invaded by criminals at a moment when the police cannot arrive in time to handle the criminal invasion, they must protect their families and yes, themselves.  In fact, Americans say they have a duty to defend themselves; this is why Americans will not consider any new law that limits their right to "keep and bear arms," as the Second Amendment states.  But these three exceptions to the general rule of abhorring violence are as far as Americans will go.  Outside of these narrowly drawn exceptions, Americans do not approve of violence.  Well, that isn't exactly true.  Americans do not approve of violence, but the Neo-Marxist Ultra Left not only approves of violence, they revel in it.  At Charlottesville, only the Ultra Left showed up with long nails driven through the end of their battle sticks.  And they had their mouth guards and other hand-to-hand paraphernalia.

This disqualifies them from any long-term claim on the reigns of power in America.  You could see this coming when Obama said at the outset of his eight very long years that if the opponent comes with sticks, we'll come with guns.  The Ultra Left had flame throwers at the Trump appearance in Phoenix last night.  The Ultra Left will grab power by any means necessary.  I really wish I was wrong here.  I want to be wrong.  I hope someone convinces me I am wrong.  I am a Democrat.  Right now, my party stinks to high heaven.  Unless we can crawl out from under the leadership of the Ultra Left, the Democratic Party will become the party of modern day fascism.

It makes a kind of sad sense.  The armed thugs which the Ultra Left sends to Trump Rallies and any other gathering which in some way or another challenges their emerging demand that they be recognized as the only power able to lead America; well, these thugs are called "Anti-Fa" or some other moniker close to it.  Anti-Fa is short for Anti-Fascist.  But these thugs are fascists.  In fact, they are the poster children for modern day fascism.  I can just hear one of their mentors mumbling, "but we are anti-fascists, how can you call us fascists?"  The reason we call the Ultra Left and their thuggish "Anti-Fa" Militias fascists is because they are fascists.  They hide their faces, dress in intimidating clothing and act like wild animals.  They showed up at Donald Trump's campaign events claiming that they backed Trump, then they picked violent fights with real Trump supporters.  But they aren't fascists, are they?

The Anti-Fas, despite all of the nonsense pushed by mainstream media types and all of the nonsense mumbled by the Pelosis and Schumers of the world are America's worst nightmare.  Anytime society bends to their debauchery, America loses.  How often can America lose this fight before America ceases to exist?  Talk about a frightening thing to contemplate.

You'd think that the GOP would be in their glory when confronted with an opponent that is so openly despicable.  But the GOP leadership is so pathetically weak, so pathetically unimaginative and so pathetically afraid to take the reigns of power that they are losing the unlosable battle. The upcoming 2018 elections are by far the most important that America has ever confronted.  Unless America continues to scrub the public scene clean of fascism and thuggery, it risks falling under its control in a real, cruel, fascist kind of context.  Look for the Ultra Left to make a summary grab for power, eschewing normal American precepts for attaining power.  Obama set the stage for this summary grab of power.  He openly ignored the Constitution and Federal Law, and openly dared his detractors to try to stop him.  No one lifted a finger.  A few brave souls did speak out - the Limbaughs, Levins and Hannitys of the world - but the elected Republicans acted like they wanted nothing to do with these three essential conservative speakers.

I would be stunned if the Ultra Left went quietly.  Besides their political leaders in the Democrat Party, they have influential leaders among the Hollywood Elite and, of course, in the old Mainstream Media.

Even as I write this tonight, the very important Newt Gingrich is speaking out on very similar issues.  He is pointing out that under President Trump there has been real dynamic change in the Veterans Administration.  It is the best leadership team at the VA in decades.  Yet most Americans no nothing about it, because the Mainstream Media simply will not report on it.  Unless the GOP or something that replaces it can reach and communicate with America in a real and meaningful way, the Ultra Left will prevail.

The GOP leadership in Congress couldn't get much worse.  Mitch McConnell ran for reelection in 2016.  His campaign was based almost exclusively on his promise to get rid of Obamacare.  He came from behind and won.  The day after the election he made it clear that he had no intention of getting rid of Obamacare, and absolutely would not use the Constitutional and Statutory tools available to him to do so, this even though the GOP controlled the White House and both houses of the Congress.

If you pay attention to the American Scene, you know that the Republicans in Washington are not conservatives and have very very little fidelity to the Conservative Cause.  Instead, they are controlled by interests that spend lots and lots of money to influence every important Congressional Vote.  You would know this is absolutely true if you paid attention because there is no other explanation for the GOP refusing to do what they promised their voters they would do.

I don't know what kind of nonsense these power brokers in Washington tell the Republicans.  Their money is like a strong drug, for certain.  But they have to run for reelection.  The electorate is seething.  Time is getting short.

I don't know what will happen to America if Trump is impeached.  Whatever it is, it will not be pretty.  Will America as we know it survive such an upheaval?  No one can be sure.
