TOWSON, Maryland Sunday, March 1, 2020 - My, how a day can change things. Going into Saturday, Democrats everywhere were hoping against hope that old Joe Biden would hang on to a shrinking lead in the polls and defeat the Communist, Bernie "Mao Tse" Sanders in South Carolina.
Well, guess what? Old Joe didn't merely hang on. He annihilated Sanders, giving hope to the American contingent that still exists among the donkeys that Communism will not completely swallow up the party of John Kennedy, FDR and Harry Truman.
When all was said in done there, in the Southern Carolinas last evening, Biden had over 48% of the votes cast and had collected 35 of the 54 delegates available. By contrast, the Communist and Anti-American, Sanders, ended up with a shade over 19% of the cast votes, good for a stunningly low (and unlucky) 13 delegates.
The other Democrats still in the race gathered the remaining votes, but none of them were awarded even a single delegate.
It stood to reason that, even in today's wacky and ill-informed America, there would be more than a little bit of "waking up" as primary elections and caucuses approached in the 50 states. Thousands of Americans have perished trying to prevent Communists from taking over in these United States and elsewhere in the Western World. That fact can still be like a bucket of ice cold water being thrown in your face when the cold hard reality of what you are about to do hits you in a voting booth.
Like thousands of Americans, I'm only too happy to vote for a candidate who has cogent ideas about improving the American Experience. But I will be damned if that willingness includes handing a key to the pantry to a candidate - like the old Communist Bernie Sanders - who wants to destroy all things American.
And that is EXACTLY what the old fool Sanders wants to do. When he takes to the stage and gets all red-faced, it's like he's back in his younger days, honeymooning in Moscow (he really did that, you know).
In the coming days, we Democrats will learn if sanity had merely a short reprieve on Saturday, or if the good guys are really still alive and kicking. Can't we do better than falling back on crossing the party line again and asking a Republican to save the nation?

Winners and Losers and Teams That Don't Deserve to Advance
TOWSON, Maryland Tuesday, February 24, 2020 - Let me get a few things out of the way. The best sports news of the past weekend was Burnley's 3-0 take down of Bournemouth. The match was on the losing side's pitch and, to be candid, Burnley's goal was never seriously threatened. The Claret, by the end of the weekend's play, was tied with Arsenal with 37 points, good for ninth place in the 20-team Premier League.
Burnley has now won four of its last five matches, a far cry from the woeful way Burnley started the campaign.
In Baseball, Maryland improved to 5-1 by taking two of three from Rhode Island over the past weekend. The very idea that the two teams played all three games outdoors in February with no postponements or delays should give anyone an idea of how the weather in these parts has changed. The Terps won, 9-3 on Friday and 3-0 on Sunday, but lost, 11-8, on Saturday afternoon.
Maryland was due to take on George Mason in College Park Tuesday afternoon, but the game, if not already called, almost certainly will be because of the steady all-day rain.
Maryland's basketball team fell a tad after losing to Ohio State on Sunday. They are now 8th in the AP and 9th in the coach's poll. The bloody. polls have gotten to be so ridiculous in their bias towards the big conferences. Michigan State is not very good this year, yet they are ranked 24th with a miserable 18-9 record. Teams like Northern Iowa (23-5), Stephen F. Austin (24-3), East Tennessee State (25-4) and St. Mary's (23-6) aren't ranked, even though many of the latter teams always seem to knock off some so-called big names in the NCAA tournament.
Some of the lads who vote in the poll can't let their college years go. They vote for teams that were good in past years, but not this year, while ignoring the St. Mary's of the world, who always win big games, always play fearlessly against big teams, and always get screwed by the people who pick the tournament teams and vote in the polls.
The depressing lot who pick the tournament teams will ignore St. Mary's but take eight or nine teams from the Big Ten or Southeastern Conference, even though most of those teams won't survive the first weekend.
Does a team that finishes sixth or below in their conference really deserve a tournament berth that they will not take advantage of at the expense of a second place team that has been winning at a breathtaking pace only to lose a conference tournament game that might keep them out of the NCAA for no good reason.
But Tom Izzo is such a good coach. Does keeping one of his worst teams in the past decade out of the NCAA take away from his legacy? It does not. But keeping kids who have achieved at a championship rate out of the NCAA so Izzo's legacy can be salved is obscene.

Terps' Baseball Sweeps 3 Opening Games in South Carolina; Now Returns Home For 3-Game Series With Rhode Island
TOWSON, Maryland Tuesday, February 18, 2020 - The Maryland Baseball Team opened its season by winning all three games during a weekend trip to Charleston, South Carolina.
Maryland crushed Charleston Southern on Friday night, 11-2. On a neutral field on Saturday morning, the Terps beat back Iona, 8-2. Then, on Sunday, Maryland staged a dramatic late rally to overcome a 2-0 ninth inning lead held by the home team, the College of Charleston. The dogged Terps tied the score with a two-run uprising in the ninth, then won the game in the tenth with two more runs. The final score was Maryland 4, College of Charleston 2.
In the Friday evening opener, Maryland's starting pitcher, Sean Fisher, threw five and one-third innings of two-hit baseball, even as his Terrapin mates were pushing across eleven runs on ten hits. Four different Terps drove in two runs apiece: Chris Alleyne, Troy Schreffler, Randy Bednar and Tommy Gardiner. Sam Bello relieved Fisher in the sixth inning and ended up throwing three and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.
The Maryland offense did take some time to get started. When it did "get started," however, it really got started. Maryland's offensive box score looked like this: 2 runs in the 6th, 5 in the 7th and, just for good measure, 4 more in the 9th inning.
Tucker Flint had 3 hits for the Terps, while three other Maryland players had two hits apiece.
On Saturday morning, playing the Iona Gaels, Maryland's offense was able to remain in high gear. After falling behind Iona, 2-1, entering the third inning, Maryland exploded for 4 runs in their half of the fourth, and after that, they never looked back. When all was said and done, Maryland had defeated Iona, 8-2. Freshman Nick Dean started and pitched into the fifth inning, giving up six hits but only two earned runs. Dean was followed by Ryan Ramsey, who gave up only one hit and no runs in two and one-third innings of relief. In doing so, the Montvale, New Jersey freshman picked up his first career win. Ramsey was relieved by sophomore Sean Heine, who spun two shut out innings, but was not credited with a save since Maryland had pushed ahead by an 8-2 score by the time Heine entered the game.
On Sunday, the Terps were matched up against the home team, the College of Charleston, and for the longest time it looked like Maryland would be tagged with its first loss of the season. In fact, when Maryland came to bat in the top of the ninth, they behind the College of Charleston, 2-0.
Actually, Maryland had the southerners right where they wanted them. The Terps' Chris Alleyne, who had five hits in the three weekend games, started Maryland's comeback with a lead off single. Freshman Tucker Flint followed with a double, and Maryland then cut the home team's lead down to one run when Randy Bednar delivered a sacrifice fly.
Maryland then went to its bench, and the red shirt sophomore, Michael Pineiro, delivered in breath-taking fashion, laying down a clutch squeeze bunt that brought home the tying run.
The contest now moved into extra innings. And it was the visitors who came up big with the game on the line.
Junior pitcher Mark Diluia, who had entered the game in the eighth inning, stayed on to throw a scoreless ninth. In the top of the tenth inning the Terps jumped on the opportunity Diluia provided to them, striking for two more runs.
Junior Tommy Gardiner started the Maryland rally with a one out single. Pinch hitter Tavan Shahidi pushed Gardiner to second by drawing a walk. Austin Chavis came into the contest at this juncture to pinch run for Shahidi. In short order, both Gardiner and Chavis came around to score on a series of wild pitches.
Trevor Labonte pitched a scoreless and hitless bottom of the tenth inning, and it was Labonte who was credited with the clutch road victory.
Now officially off to a 3-0 start to the season, the Terps now return to the friendly confines of their College Park home field to host Rhode Island in a three game weekend series. The games will start even as a February Cold Front approaches Maryland.
Oh good!
Game time for the Friday series opener is 6 pm.

If You Dare To Be Conservative in San Francisco, Not Even Being a Baseball Star Will Spare You From Ridicule and Unwarranted Retribution
TOWSON, Maryland Tuesday, February 18, 2020 - Remember Aubrey Huff? He had several successful years playing major league baseball
for the Baltimore Orioles. He also played for quite a few other big league teams. He finally ended his career after the 2012 season.
He played his final three seasons with the San Francisco Giants.
You may even recall that the Giants won the 2010 World Series, and that Aubrey Huff was an instrumental part of that Giants' team.
In that campaign, the big man swatted some 26 home runs and drove home 96 runs. Huff added another home run and four more RBI's in the World Series against the Texas Rangers.
The Giants now are putting together a reunion of the 2010 World Series Team.
But guess what? Aubrey Huff has been informed that he will not be included in the festivities. Unless you live with your head in a bag, you've probably heard that the so-called City By The Bay is an abode of the very far left. But ole Aubrey Huff isn't a leftist. He probably has to strain a bit to be called a moderate. In reality, and like millions and millions of other Americans, including our elected President, Aubrey Huff is, well, a conservative. It isn't a crime. It isn't unusual. It is a very key component of the American Scene. In most of America, citizens wouldn't bat an eye if somebody were said to be a conservative. However, in far left San Francisco, Huff is making the big mistake of being an categorized as a conservative.
And because he is conservative, he can't be a Giant celebrant. His views, according to the San Francisco Giants, just don't fit in with the Giant Locker Room. This is what the San Francisco Giants the say.
Which is a lot of bunk. Back when the games counted, the bloody Giants couldn't have given a plug nickel about Huff's political views. The man could hit, especially in the clutch, and the Giants couldn't get enough of him. In point of fact, the Giants wouldn't have been in the bloody World Series were it not for Aubrey Huff.
Now, when Huff and many of the other 2010 Giants have ended their playing careers, the darn front office nerds want to make a lot of noise about Aubrey Huff's politics to the receptive minions in dear old far left San Francisco. Here is a point of fact the Giants and their genius front office is overlooking. Aubrey Huff never said if he was invited to be with his teammates he'd just have to drone on about his politics. Baseball is the kind of thing people indulge in to get away from politics. It is the Giants, not Huff, who are dragging politics into this. In doing so, they are absolutely discriminating against a man who has done nothing wrong. He helped the Giants win. Now, when everybody else on the 2010 team is reaping a little bit of the reward for winning, one man who played a huge role in the success of the team is getting screwed because he likes the President.
I'd say the Giants are hypocrites. In fact, I'm quite sure about it.

On MSNBC - With Few People Actually Watching - NBC Reporters Ask Questions in the Dark. And the Answers They Are Getting Do Not Make Them Happy
TOWSON, Maryland Saturday, February 15, 2020 - On good ole MSNBC the other day, ole Chuck Todd played the game that involves asking a question in a forest with one falling tree. Or something like that. What he wanted to know was how many people - reporters, candidates etc. - get sandbagged by what he called the Bernie Sanders' internet brown shirt brigade. Now grant you, ole Chuck isn't the first person to personally discover that Sanders actually has an online brown shirt brigade.
No one, least of all this pundit, actually questions whether Sanders actually has such an on-line fascist mob. He really does, and it is very alarming. Whenever somebody says something that angers ole Bernie, he gets the mob after them. They flood his web site or email address or any other identifiable location they can have at, with hundreds of nasty tweets or emails or whatever. The aim is to shut the person down. It is very unbecoming of a candidate in a Democratic Election, but of course, Sanders is neither in favor of a democracy or thinking like someone who wants to be involved in governing a democratic people. Bernie is a socialist and a Marxist, and he makes no bones about it. We - meaning the USA - fought a lot of wars to be rid of such folk, but now, all of a sudden, some Americans are embracing Sanders and his low brow political game.
On One American News the other day, their outstanding journalist, Alex Salvi, reported that President Trump set fundraising records in January. The same Mr. Salvi reported that Mr. Bloomberg was able to spend a lot of his own money, which he has tons of, but that it wasn't doing him a whole lot of good in the polls.
And he is right, at least so far. On MSNBC, one of their reporters approached a voter in New Hampshire, thinking that he was a Sanders voter. To her stunned surprise, he was, in fact, a Trump supporter, and he quickly explained why. It was a beautiful thing.
A very beautiful thing.
The Trump Campaign said this week that some 25 percent of those attending their monster rally in the Granite State this week were actually registered Democrats. That also is a beautiful thing.
If the mob of Democratic candidates seeking the USA Presidency cannot change that forthrightly, Mr. Trump and his supporters are going to really enjoy the coming summer and fall.

Trial Judge in Stone Case Declines to Act Even When Juror Concedes Bias
TOWSON, Maryland Thursday, February 13, 2020 - The Sunday Morning political snub-fests were well under way on the networks on a recent Sunday, and at least a few political junkies had just taken positions glued to their televisions.
At least a few? Well, to be honest, just a bare few. A bare few? Well, at least one. At least. At least one. There, to see Chuck Todd ask some woe-begotten fool if he knew what day it was.
This is how bad things are on Sunday Morning Network Television.
And its not just on network television. Chuckie Schumer, that bastion of moderate and friendly political nonsense, had the mundane audacity to go on network TV on Monday to announce that he has sent letters to all 74 Executive Department Inspector Generals, telling them that they'd better investigate any "retaliatory" removals from the federal workforce. Chuck is talking, of course, about the Brothers Vindman. Both brothers worked inside the White House, ostensibly for the National Security Council. Actually, we know now, these fine patriots actually swore their allegiance to the DNC.
When one of the Vindmans was called as a witness in front of Congress during the recently completed Ukraine affair, Brother Alexander testified that it was that nasty Trump Administration that wanted his wonder Bidens 'dealt with.'
Sadly, for the Vindmans, the party that favored the Bidens didn't do well in the most recent federal elections. The new guy in town, in fact, actually lived in the very same White House where those wily Vindmans reported to work, that is, until recently.
I am not a fan of the President's dear friend, Mr. Stone. He is a loose cannon with no direction or cogent purpose. But when a juror admitted to disliking President Trump and the trial judge - an Obama functionary - refused to take action, it showed beyond doubt that the fix against Stone was in. And it was "in" right in the middle of a jury trial. And we mean a criminal jury trial where the Defendant could be sentenced to serious time in jail. Shameful. Really really shameful.
Just wondering where ole Chuck Schumer was during those eight thrill-packed years that made up the Obama Regime. I'll give you a hint: he was carefully not paying the least bit of attention, because, after all, Barack's eight years were nothing but sweet, friendly and even cuddly.
They were, weren't they?
On TV Monday night, one prominent Dem said he opposed socialism because "it doesn't frickin work." That would be Chris Matthews of MSDNC, er, ah, MSNBC.
He really did say that.
Anyway, it is just amazing how conservative-sounding the Dems get on election eve.
The President held one of his trademark rallies on Monday night in New Hampshire. The arena was packed and thousands were encamped outside. The media, however, breathlessly reported that there were 3,500 at some Democrat's rally. OK. What did the MSM report about the much higher turnout at the Trump rally?
Hardly a word.
In Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, the five registered voters raced to the polls at midnight because the polls there open at midnight and close shortly after.
One respected pundit, Britt Hume of Fox, said he believed that there was credence to the reports that Senator Amy Klobuchar is surging. If she is, it could be very bad news for every other Democratic candidate, especially Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. Look for the woman from Minnesota to emerge from the New Hampshire Primary in third place nationally. That is exactly what happened
Joe Biden's wife - more than a few people think it would be better if she was the candidate instead of Joe - said on Fox tonight that her son's death at the hands of cancer kept her out of church for a long time. But that all changed when a woman, uninvited, approached her at a function over the summer and asked to be her prayer partner. Since then, her faith has returned. and Ms. Biden and the woman are said to maintain an active correspondence. Mrs. Biden is a good, honest, perceptive person.
The deadbeat Democrats in Congress have kept up their sad attack on President Trump. Every time it looks like the President has resorted to Twitter once too often, he puts out a humdinger to silence the critics. I have never blamed him for doing the twitter thing, since his opportunities to address the American People without the MSM changing his message, are few and far between. By using Twitter, he gets an unfettered shot at speaking to the citizens. That is the way it should be. Show me where in the Constitution it says that media types have the right to impede the President when he wants to reach the voters.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders is falling into a trap some Democrat Big Wheels are setting for him. Recently, James Carville ridiculed Sanders for a number of reasons. Sanders hit back. That was a huge mistake. Carville is smarter than many realize. When he speaks these days, the person of whom he speaks better listen. Sanders did not.
If the Democratic big wheels really are hell-bent on stopping Sanders like they did four years ago, they need to do a lot of listening to people like Carville, who know of what they speak.
They need a lot of good advice if they don't want to be impaled on a Marxist candidacy.

Trump Administration Removes Vindman and Sondland; Vindman Escorted From White House by Security Detail, Maryland Rallies to Win at Illinois; Terps Hold Big Ten Top Spot
TOWSON, Maryland Friday, February 7, 2020 - The President is the kind of person whom you either love or hate, but you will quickly learn that no matter how you feel, you will learn to live in his world. He is that large.
In Trump World today, one of the President's tormentors - although, clearly, not one of the ones who wanted to be out front of that group - found his world turned very much upside down by the President. Until today, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman worked for the National Security Council inside the White House.
But today, Vindman was canned and, on top of that, was promptly escorted out of the White House by a security detail.
Also getting the old heave ho today was the USA ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sondland. Both Vindman and Sondland testified before the House of Representatives during the unsuccessful Trump Impeachment trial. Early in the day news swirled around the Washington Press Corp that Vindman was in trouble. Asked about this, Trump admitted that was unhappy with Vindman.
"You think I'm supposed to be happy?" Trump said to reporters. "I'm not."
Vindman is on active duty with the military, and Defense Secretary Mark Esper said he was eager to have Vindman back from his current assignment so that he could be reassigned.
Sondland told reporters that he had been informed that he was being recalled from his current position. There was no immediate news about his future.
Sports: Maryland fell behind home-standing Illinois by double digits in the first half, but then staged a dramatic rally in the waning minutes of the opening frame, and stepped up the defensive pressure in the second half to defeat Illinois, 75-66.
Maryland entered the game tied with Illinois atop the Big Ten. The ninth-ranked Terps now hold the top spot alone.

Trump Acquitted; Whistle Blower Facing Senate Investigation; Gutless Romney Jumps Into Waiting Arms of Democrats
TOWSON, Maryland Wednesday, February 4, 2020 - Late this afternoon, the Senate acquitted the President on both counts of the ridiculous impeachment case brought against him. The President announced that he will address the nation at noon on Thursday about the acquittal. Meanwhile, various sources said that the proverbial boom is about to be lowered on the so-called whistle-blower.
At the same time, reports claimed that the whistle blower might be in a dating relationship with a daughter of Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff.
Even as the Senate votes to acquit President Trump in the disgraceful Democrat impeachment imbroglio, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham says he will begin an investigation of Democratic Operative Eric Ciaramella, identified in many media reports as the infamous whistle-blower. It's not a mistake. Ciaramella is the whistle blower.
Ciaramella is the whistle blower.
Ciaramella is a Democratic operative. In fact, there are reports on Twitter that Ciaramella is "dating" the daughter of Democratic Impeachment instigator Adam Schiff. Imagine that.
The issue is whether Ciarmella conspired with other Democrats, especially those on the staff of California Congressman Adam Schiff, to hatch this impeachment thing.
And the dirty little secret is, Ciaramella is not a statutory whistle blower. The law sets out various requirements that a person must meet to create whistle blower status. Ciarmella doesn't make the cut. But a lot of sanctimonious Democrats gripe about his on-air identification.
Senator Graham also says Adam Schiff will be investigated, to the delight of almost all on the right and quite a few on the left, too.
The media in Washington has turned into a tidy little bunch of dirt balls. Today, for instance, Trump held a luncheon for members of the media. The first half of the lunch was on the record, and the President answered tons of questions. The second half was off the record, and again the President answered tons of questions.
Then, the upstanding media hound dogs walked out of the room and told their bun buddies about those items they'd promised Trump would be off the record. Those not in the room ran with various stories. Dirt Balls.
Trump joked that Democrat Presidential Wannabe Big Mike Bloomberg strong armed Debate sponsors into allowing him to stand on a box to counteract his height disadvantage compared to that of the President's height. CNN took it seriously and had a panel discussion on the subject. Really, they did.
One final note. The spineless Democratic lap dog, Mitt Romney, has voted with the Democrats on impeachment. In doing so, reports said he defended the behavior of the Bidens in taking ill-gotten money from the Ukrainians. He said he knew he'd be a pariah in the GOP but claimed he was compelled to do it by his moral standards.
Mr. Romney has lost his attachment to the real world, and in doing so has been tripped up again by his unwarranted perception of his own moral superiority. In what world is it OK to fleece a poor country of millions of dollars to put in the pocket of the son of a so-called political leader, but not okay to ask questions about it? Unless your morals are badly flawed, you would understand that what the Bidens did was wrong, very wrong. Unless your morals are badly flawed, you'd be proud when your political leader raised questions about it. Romney said he gave it lots of thought, but still managed to get it completely wrong. He said his deep religious beliefs compelled him to be the only Republican not to vote to acquit.
I don't think so. Say what you want about pro-abortion folk. But don't mix them up with people who take their Christian Faith seriously.

Today is February 3; Tonight is the State of the Union; Tomorrow is the Impeachment Vote
LAURAVILLE, Maryland Tuesday, February 3, 2020 - The headline above informs us all that President Trump will physically be on Capital Hill tonight to deliver this third State of the Union Address. Tomorrow, at the same venue, the United States Senate will vote on whether the President will be permitted to remain on the job.
Those Lilliputians in the House - no, I'm not insulting Nads Nadler or ole Pencil Neck Schiff - voted to impeach President Trump shortly before Christmas. This week the President appears at the scene of the crime to make his State of the Union Address. The impeachment vote, then, is tomorrow.
If you are wagering, the President is in great shape. In the Senate, composed, as it were, of some 51 GOP Senators, 48 Democrats and One so-called independent, those wanting to give Trump the old heave-ho must muster 67 votes.
They cannot.

Closing Arguments Conclude in Impeachment Sham; Final Vote Pending on Wednesday; Maryland Returns to AP Top 10, Key Match Up With Rutgers Set For Tuesday
TOWSON, Maryland Monday, February 3, 2020 - As the attorneys for both sides in the ongoing impeachment imbroglio made their final arguments - even as the post you now read was being authored - the idea that a duly elected President of these United States could be ejected from office for anything even connected to this sham becomes more and more ludicrous as every second, minute and hour slides by. Jay Sekulow, one of the President's attorneys, made clear in his closing remarks that it was important not just to acquit President Trump, but to take additional steps to ensure that such obscene acts do not happen again to any President of any political persuasion. He played for the assembled Senators - acting as jurors in the trial of the President - some certain remarks by a variety of Congressmen, including Nads Nadler, that indicated just how much most of the Democrats loathe the President. These remarks also showed clearly that impeachment was afoot long before Trump was inaugurated.
God bless Sekulow, whose courage was clear to the Senate even in the face of the Democratic mob. One need only recall the episodes where opponents to the mob were run out of restaurants and subjected to other mob-rule tactics. Testimony emerged that Democratic thugs - the Antifa 'Mob-Thuggery' - took to sending thugs to Trump campaign events, there to commit violent acts time after time.
From the beginning, the absurdity of it all stands out like an example of pure political shenanigans, and nothing more. In every other impeachment, decisive votes were always bi-partisan. Not so here or now, as the Democrats make a mockery of the mechanism for impeachment.
For me, the ultimate absurdity - over and above the threats of impeachment lobbed toward the President even before he became President, was the time when the party of ANTIFA (the Democrats) tried to act like it was somebody else who was at fault for the violent acts for which ANTIFA and the Democrats are directly responsible. But it is the Democrats and their leader, Hilary Clinton, who were and are responsible for ANTIFA and ANTIFA Violence, from the first act to the last, and for all acts in between. It is something to contemplate when Schiff and his cohorts try to remove Trump. It is Schiff who is responsible for the masked thugs called ANTIFA. And we haven't even broached the George Soros legacy.
There were many many years when I worried that my politics and views had drifted too far left. I should not have feared. My politics turned out to be nothing worse than centrist when compared to the Anti-American Outlaws now populating the Far Left and ensconced in my party.
It might - might - provide the nation a pause in the absurd behavior provided by Schiff, Nadler etc. were the nation to vote the Anti-American majority out of office in the House and give time for the nation to catch its breath.
Though the election isn't until November, it seems now that the violence of the Left crashes down on us with no time to spare. Every single President who has served would be subject to impeachment were the Senate to remove President Trump. Pray that the Good Lord does not allow this "purely partisan and political" snake oil to succeed.
A Few Sports Notes - As this story is posted, Illinois and Michigan State sit atop the Big Ten Men's Basketball Standings, each with 8 wins and 3 losses in conference play. Maryland is a mere half game off the pace, at 7-3. The top 3 in the Big Ten are closely followed by Iowa and Rutgers, each at 7-4, Penn State at 6-4 and Wisconsin at 6-5. Everyone else is below .500 in conference play.
Surprisingly, the Terps are the highest rated team in the Big Ten in this week's newly released AP Top 25. By virtue of their current four game win streak and a big road win over Iowa, Maryland climbed from No.15 to No. 9.
Other Big Ten teams in the AP Poll include No. 16 Michigan State, No. 17 Iowa, No. 20 Illinois, and No. 22 Penn State. Were the poll extended, Ohio State would be No. 28, Rutgers would be No. 34 and Michigan would be tied for No. 38.
There is a pivotal showdown between Maryland and Rutgers tomorrow night in College Park, Maryland.
Surging Baylor stands at No. 1 in the AP Poll. The Bears are 19-1 overall, and are followed in the poll by No. 2 Gonzaga (23-1), No. 3 Kansas (18-3), No. 4 San Diego State (23-0), No. 5 Louisville (19-3), No. 6 Dayton (20-2), No. 7 Duke (18-3), No. 8 Florida State (18-3), No. 9 Maryland (17-4) and No. 10 Villanova (17-4).

In-Fighting Jolts Democrats in Run-Up to Iowa Caucuses
TOWSON, Maryland Sunday, February 2, 2020 - There is an amazing turn of events washing across the Democratic Party in the run-up to the official start of the Presidential Primary Season. This weekend, former First Lady and 2016 Democratic Standard Bearer, Hilary Clinton, ripped into current Democratic Candidate Bernie Sanders.
Sanders, an aging Marxist who some Democratic voters see as a welcome candidate among Democratic Hopefuls, drew the ire of the failed Clinton because, she said, he failed to marshal his supporters behind Clinton after he lost to Clinton in the Democratic race. Actually, there is a large question about whether he did lose, since the DNC concedes that rules were broken and strings pulled for Clinton to the detriment of Sanders. Sanders, however, hardly raised a fuss in the sordid affair and did work, at least some, for Clinton.
Clinton alleged this week that "nobody likes" Sanders and nobody can work with him. Sanders squabbled last week with fellow Senator and Presidential Candidate Elizabeth Warren over whether Sanders said Warren was a liar during a Democratic Debate.
Meanwhile, another Democratic candidate, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, is in hot water for her work in a criminal case that resulted in the conviction and sentencing of a suspect later found to be innocent. The accused man is Myron Burrell, who was 16 in 2002 when an 11-year-old was shot and killed while doing school homework in her home. Another suspect, Ike Tyson, says he and not Burrell, pulled the trigger on the shot that killed the child. Klobuchar was a Minnesota prosecutor at the time.

Pro and Anti-Trump Forces Agree: Vote on Impeachment Set For Wednesday
TOWSON, Maryland, USA Sunday, February 2, 2020 - Even as Democratic Officials publicly agree that the only hope they have to defeat Donald Trump's bid for another four year term is to prevent Bernie Sanders from emerging as the DNC standard bearer, late polls show the Marxist edging ahead in Iowa polling.
In truth, most people, including this writer, believe the President will turn back anyone the Dems put up. But before you count your chickens, remember that Trump only gets four more years after the votes are counted. Many feel that just getting to the starting line was the President's biggest challenge. The Dems threw the book at Trump in the lead up to today's competition, but guess what, it did not work. Trump made it to the starting line. Schumer then threatened to keep the sham trial going for weeks by filing all manner of bad faith motions. Mitch McConnell made threats of his own, so the two got together over the weekend and agreed that the Dems can make their closing arguments on Monday and Tuesday. The vote then, will come Wednesday.
Unlike all the other motions filed so far, the actual impeachment vote will need votes from some 67 Senators to succeed in removing President Trump. That means at least 18 or 19 Republicans would have to jump ship.
Of course, the hateful Anti-American Dems do force Trump to make Tuesday Night's State of the Union address with the removal vote pending the next day. It is a very mean spirited mob Trump must daily confront.

Acquittal for Trump Seems All But Assured
TOWSON, Maryland Saturday, February 1, 2020 - The Senate of these United States is not in session this first day of February, 2020. In the impeachment trial of our President, all that officially remains to do is the overdue vote to acquit.
The two articles put upon the Senate by the Far Left were never anything other than ridiculous. Virtually every President, including even Obama, have made statements that are equal to that which the Far Left claimed should have led to Trump's ouster. Obama, you'll recall, blundered his way through the IRS scandal and the scandal surrounding the Fast and Furious imbroglio. The sanctimonious Chuck Schumer kept forgetting about those.
According to media reports. the two sides agreed Saturday afternoon that closing arguments will take place Monday and Tuesday, followed by the vote to acquit on Wednesday.
The Anti-American Far Left took to the media on Saturday to begin a campaign of whining and griping. Schumer said no impeachment can result in acquittal unless unless witnesses are allowed to testify. Schumer complained about the extensive and drawn out testimony while the impeachment was mired in the House. For her part, Pellosi provided moaning, griping and no small amount of carrying on Friday evening, much of it centered on the fact that the Democrats weren't given everything they asked for.
With the Presidential Primary season swinging into high gear this week with the Iowa Caucuses, followed soon after by the New Hampshire Primary and the South Carolina Primary, many Democrats were anxious to put the impeachment behind them, even if meant Trump's acquittal.
Most observers said that the Democrats were severely hurt by the poor performances of the so-called House Managers, who were selected by Pellossi to prosecute the case in the Senate. The despicable and overtly dishonest Adam Schiff and his Bonzo-like sidekick Nads Nadler, ended up being laughing stocks, especially compared with the highly competent Presidential Defenders, led by Professor Alan Dershowitz, Attorneys Ken Starr and Jay Sekulow, among others. Instead of off-the-cuff and thrown together answers put together by the managers, Trump's team was intellectual but, at the same time, convincing and compelling.
Acquittal seems all but guaranteed for Trump, which seems only fair. He did nothing wrong and should never have had to go through the sham to begin with.

This Blogger and His Blog Return - the Good Lord Willing - for the Duration; With Abbreviated New Commentaries on the Presidential Race and Sports
TOWSON, MARYLAND, USA, MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 2020 - When last this blog appeared, some ten months ago, there was the hope that long absences would be a thing of the past. It didn't turn out that way. Again an effort is being made.
This is the current situation. The Democrats have celebrated their return to power in the United States House of Representatives by attempting to Impeach President Trump. More than a few influential national commentators - including the powerful Mark Levin - believe that the President has emerged as one of the most important and influential chief executives in American History.
They are correct. Too often, Presidents have identified the most poignant needs and desires of all of America's citizens, only to completely fail to act in furtherance of the concerns they have identified. Trump is that rare exception. He knows what the citizens need and want, and he has acted to address them. And despite the fact that his efforts have been curtailed by Anti-American elements of the Democratic Party, many of his plans and initiatives have been enacted. Even Trump's enemies are amazed at this energy and resolve.
It is to be expected, I suppose, that the Democrats oppose Trump in furtherance of the role as the loyal opposition. Oppose, okay, we get it, but these people don't loyally oppose. Instead, they do everything in their power to completely destroy and even obliterate Trump. Democrats can oppose while at the same time remembering that they are Americans who have a solemn duty to act in furtherance of what is best for our God Blessed Nation. Their duty becomes worthy of extreme care when being among the opposition becomes contrary to America's best interests.
Chucky Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have, more often than not, slipped way over the line. Way way over.

What is Wrong With Democrats' Impeachment Mess? Begin With Schiff
TOWSON, MARYLAND, Tuesday, January 29, 2020 - I haven't posted in ages. Now, I'm back. Hopefully, I will be "back" for quite a while, the Lord willing.
Today, the darling of all those who are truly Anti-American and who oppose Justice and all that this word means - he, of course, being the pernicious liar, Adam Schiff - had the temerity and underhandedness to criticize the President and his Defense Counsel for lack of good faith in the on-going and totally corrupt impeachment proceedings. Schiff, Nadler and company have lied and acted against the interests of the nation they are sworn to represent on so many occasions that they defy logic and the meaning of incredulity. It would be like Lee Harvey Oswald lectured a Medal of Honor Winner on justifiable homicide.
It is not the first time the low-brow Schiff has sunk to such imbecilic banalities. In fact, he rarely speaks without slipping there. As a life-long Democrat, I again plead with the pernicious liar to do everyone a patriotic favor and to quit, as quickly as he might. Just now, one of the managers for the Dems said, on the record, that former Vice President Biden "did nothing wrong," when he pushed his low brow son, Hunter, onto the board of a corrupt Ukraine Corporation - a position he was totally unqualified for - and had the company agree to pay poor Hunter millions of dollars. Joe has always been corrupt. In fact, as most Americans have noted, Joe laughed heartily when recalling how good it felt to shake the Ukraine down for billions of dollars unless and until they put Hunter on the board and paid him half the national debt. Yet Trump is in trouble but not the sleazy Biden. And the Dems say Joey did nothing wrong. Kind of puts this impeachment in a bit of perspective, don't you think?
Because, you know, this is how we treat our allies. We force our low-ability son onto their local company's board and tell the Ukraine that unless they pay Hunter millions of bucks they aren't getting their defense money.
The thing is, for a truly bad person, such as Schiff, to even allege that any other person is immoral is an irony that races past all definitions and bounds of justice and fair play.
Begin with this fact, and it is a fact; Schiff began this sham proceeding with a Star Chamber proceeding behind closed and locked doors. Often, the President and his attorneys were prohibited from attending. Some 18 witnesses were called. But Schiff only released bits of 17 witness transcripts and he said in public that that is all there were. But there were 18. The Inspector General for Intelligence also testified and gave sworn and provable testimony that would have ended these proceedings, even with Schiff in charge. Schiff dealt with this stumbling block by not admitting to the 18th witness. It was behind closed doors after all. And the liar was guarding that door. Schiff is a bad bad person and a pernicious liar. And who is standing right behind him at the liar's table? Ole Nads Nadler. They deserve each other.
Rarely has a more despicable figure than Schiff graced the halls of Congress. Yet my party even allows this low brow man to actually run a presidential impeachment. He is permitted to become the face of my party in this pivotal hour.
This is how bad it has gotten. One imagines that if Benedict Arnold were still alive, he would have been allowed to share the rostrum with Schiff. The President must have nerves of steel to put up with this. It reminds of the day, late in President George W. Bush's second term, when the Dems gathered behind closed doors and emerged agreeing to all call the President a liar. Every Democrat said the same thing. They are scum bums.

Maduro Sees Options Narrow; Western Nations Line Up Behind Trump in Battle Against South American Thug; With Updates on Ron Wyatt and Maryland in NCAA Basketball Tournament
BALTIMORE, Maryland Tuesday, March 19, 2019 - In Venezuela, a real true thug, not just some fool who acts like a thug, but a real dyed-in-the-wool evil thug, bounces into absolute control. Now the 'good guys' running the Western World have banded together trying to figure out how to put him - 'him' being Nicolas Maduro - out to pasture. And by 'out to pasture,' well, think about the way the French put Napolean out to pasture.
More recently, Bernie said a shower door jumped in front of him without giving fair warning. The result, for the Socialist, was a black eye and other facial reminders. The shower door said it doesn't even know Bernie and wants to keep it that way.]
Most of the Western World has declared that the far-more-respected and decent Juan Guaidó, the Venezuelan opposition leader, is the real and recognized leader of the oil-rich South American nation. Guaidó took the personally risky step of returning to Venezuela last week despite not-to-subtle threats from Maduro and his operatives to arrest his opponent and his family. When Guaidó refused to be intimidated, Maduro backed down on his threat, at least for now. In the meantime, however, Maduro has refused to allow shipments of humanitarian supplies, sent to thousands of starving Venezuelan citizens by President Trump, the French and other western nations, to enter the country. Military types, deployed to border entry points in Venezuela by Maduro, have prevented the aid vehicles from entering Venezuela.
Maduro gets his dwindling international support from those freedom-loving folk in Russia, China and Cuba.

There is no apparent end to this stand-off, at least not a peaceful one. Thugs like Maduro don't have a history of going quietly into the night.
I am still a few days away from our report on Ron Wyatt. If you are too curious to wait, there is plenty of material out there. Unlike secular folk at places like Wikipedia - which does a real hatchet job on Wyatt - our report will be positive and an endorsement of his work.
And a word on the NCAA Tournament: it is apparent that the Selection Committee did a fine job in picking and seeding the field. Some choices are open to debate, of course. I don't know that Maryland deserved so high a seed. The Committee gave the Terps a sixth seed in the East, meaning that Maryland's first game will be against the winner of a play-in game tonight between Belmont and Temple. It worries me that TV types have tapped Belmont as a Tournament Darling. If Belmont gets by Temple - I think I'm the only pundit taking the Owls in tonight's game - that 'darling' tag will get totally out of control by Maryland's Thursday afternoon, 3:10 pm, tip-off. Tru TV will have the TV coverage of the game.
I hope, against hope, that Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon begins to put down those criticisms about his ability to prepare a team for the postseason. Under Turgeon, the Terps have never gotten past the round of 16. His record in the Big Ten Tournament is worse. There is a path for that to happen this year, but a lot of brackets will be shot down in the process.
It's not that getting Maduro off the world stage is a problem for rocket scientists. The challenge for the west is getting rid of the sadistic nut without seeming to be as bad as Maduro is.
Already, nice and civilized solutions have been suggested. More than one nation has stepped forward and volunteered to take Maduro as a refugee of sorts; in other words allowing him to live there in a reasonably protected status, so long as he agrees to stay off of the world stage. Predictably, a nut like Maduro turned this down.
[Not to change the subject, but some years back Bernie Sanders said nice things about Maduro and the socialist revolution he was running down there in Venezuela. It was typical goofiness coming out of the mind and mouth of the USA's very own Anti-American. As the years passed and the Maduro regime was knocking off its citizens by the truckload, people got back in touch with the Bernster and asked him if he was ready to walk that bit of pro-Maduro insanity back. Bernie has refused. He doesn't want to hear anything negative about the good socialist Maduro, not matter how many Venezuelans are slaughtered. And this is the mindset Bernie wants to bring to the USA. As the immortal Vin Scully once said, "socialism just doesn't work."

Against God, Against America, The Democrats Pound All Things American; Announcement About Pending Coverage Concerning Ron Wyatt; With Sports and 3 Verses From Second Timothy
BALTIMORE, Maryland Thursday, March 7, 2019 - Within the next week or two I am going to be so audacious as to write about one of the most amazing persons I have come to learn about. That person is Ron Wyatt.
He is an extremely difficult person to write about. It may be just me. But it absolutely has to be done; the man was that amazing. He passed on in 1999. Before I knew about him, he was gone. One of his three children - who spoke about his father in a breathtaking You Tube video - passed on in 2015.
But I need a bit more time to collect my thoughts about Wyatt. (And be aware, the man has his critics, chief among them, I am sad to report, is Wikipedia). Until then, I am compelled to report on the Anti-American Blitherings of the leadership of the Democratic Party, now more accurately known as the Socialist Party (formerly known as the Democratic Party).
I am a life-long Democrat. There was a time that was something I was proud to say. But that was a long long time ago.
Sooner, rather than later, it may not even be true for me to say I am a Democrat. Why should I be? I am not a racist like most Far Left Wing Democrats. I am not Anti-American, like most Far Left Wing Democrats. The titular head of the party, Hilary Clinton, is not a jailbird. But that is a blemish on the nation, since she belongs there for the rest of her miserable life, Name one other American who could get away with what she did, or did not do, with the nation's supply of uranium, with American lives at Benghazi, with what she did with material under subpoena and a certain computer program known as Bleachbit. What other American could have her husband hold a face-to-face with the Attorney General of These United States only a few days before a public decision about whether or not she was going to be indicted.
I do not brow-beat fellow citizens about their so-called 'carbon footprint' while, at the very same time leaving such footprints so large that they can be viewed without mechanical aid from the International Space Station. It would not cross my mind to do to President Trump what the Far Left Goons that lead the party are doing and have been doing since the second Trump was elected by USA citizens to lead us for the next four years. For those like Jerrold 'Jezabelle' Nadler and Adam "Believe Me, Please!" Schiff, Trump's election was their signal to begin the Democratic Party's Neolithic attack on their prey; i.e., Caucasians of all description, Jews of all description, etc. During a recent interview on some mainstream media festival, Nadler explained that the word of the day was "investigate" Trump, followed forthrightly with "impeach" Trump. Other, more typical issues that come before the Congress, such as defense spending, agricultural support, environmental concerns, well, they will have to wait. Afterall, what the heck were they elected for?
Nadler said all of this with a straight face. Schiff talks like that also. My absolute favorite Schiff moment on the mainstream media was when some joker, imitating a Russian operative, called him up to say he had some real good dirt on Trump, and wanted to know if Schiff had an interest in it. Well, let me tell you, Schiff was slobbering right there on the telephone trying to hurry the caller into sending the material to Schiff. No matter what the caller suggested, it wasn't quick enough. Schiff wanted it now.
April fool, Adam. There was no such garbage. To the everlasting frustration of Schiff and Nadler, there never is any real dirt on Trump. No matter what they come up with, it ends up being benign, and even worse, entirely legal.
This is my question: what kind of person goes into a voting booth and actually votes for folk like Schiff and Nadler?
Really. How would you describe such a person. I keep getting stuck on the part where the so-called potential voter has to fill out the little form when they register to vote. If you are so mindless that you would actually vote for such people, how do you also manage to muster up the intellect to register to vote? That is a one and one that does not ever equal two.
Am I the only one in America who watches Schiff and Nadler and wonders how can these two be assigned the job of tracking down liars, cheats, thieves and fools? How do they get past a mirror? Schiff manages to mix a couple of humdingers into every statement he tries to make. When either Nadler or Schiff get started on Trump, they immediately blow every fuse in the box.
Just this week Nadler really, honestly, said that Trump would certainly be indicted for calling the Mueller investigation a "witch hunt." What's worse, the Nadler said, he's done it hundreds of times. Imagine!
Tell me this, Nads, Do you lose your First Amendment rights when you become President?
If you put Trump's statements before the American public, a whole lot of people - a majority? - would agree with the President. Ole Nads probably thinks it was perfectly OK for Mueller to staff his witch hunt with Far Left Democrats, most of whom had contributed to Hilary's so-called campaign. I wonder if Nads had any trouble with Hilary sending thugs to Trump's campaign appearances to rough up the citizens who were in attendance.
Just wondering.
Who, in the party leadership, actually thinks the 2020 election for President will turn on the way Nads and Schiff dominate the nightly news on the highly objective national newscasts with their latest pop of pure secular evil.
I have to say that, for the moment, even some charter members of the media think Nads and Schiff are going way too far and way too fast. Even Shifty George "I Still Love Hillary" Stefanopoulos was dumbfounded the other day when he interviewed Nads on National TV.
And it is only getting worse. The Democrats are going open and obvious in their attacks on the Christian Faith. At a Congressional Hearing the other day, Bernie Sanders declared that a Trump nominee who honestly stated that he was a Christian could not be approved for the position he sought because of his faith. Sanders and other Democrats say that Christians cannot serve most government positions because of their faith. Bernie never has gotten around to reading the Constitution. And I wonder if old Bernie has the same convictions about Islamists.
During another hearing, the Dem running the proceedings left "under God" out of the oath all witnesses take before giving testimony. When a member of the GOP complained, the Democrat in charge said witnesses would not have to give oath "under God" unless they chose to.
Leave it to the Ultra Left. They gore and a trash the Good Lord, but strike out when they attempt to find an agreeable way of sanctioning one of the two Islamic members of Congress - who had made a number of openly Anti-Semitic Statements. As I am about to post this, agreement was escaping the Dems.
And if you think all of this is so much banality, consider the fact that the Dems will not do business with your business or even talk to you if you let on that you voted for the President.
This is what St. Paul wrote in his Second Letter to Timothy, Chapter 1, beginning at Verse 8: Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God. Verse 9: Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, Verse 10: But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
A few Sports Notes: Maryland has lost 6 of its last 11 games. The Terps have but one regular season game left, then enter the Big Ten Tournament. One of the four double byes in that get-together has apparently escaped Maryland, again. The late season semi-fade seems to be an annual affair. There is a ton of outstanding talent on this Terrapin Team. If you listen to Coach Mark Turgeon speak after these later games, he seems to know what the problems are. But transferring that knowledge to corrections in subsequent games always escapes Maryland. You know, I get the idea that Jalen Smith isn't playing up to his potential, but many others are exceeding potential. Both starting guards, for instance, are wonderful. And Bruno Fernando has a double-double every game. Yet they manage all of these narrow losses.
Another slumping team is Burnley, and the Claret are playing with Relegation Disaster. A check of the Premier League Table shows Burnley in 16th place, five points clear of relegation. Only the poor play of the teams that are fighting with the Lancashire lads have kept Burnley where they are. Burnley is 16th with 30 points, while Southampton is 17th with 27 points. The three teams holding relegation spots are 18th place Cardiff City, with 25 points, the two bottom-dwellers, Fulham and Huddersfield, who have played themselves out of contention with 17 and 14 points, respectively. If Burnley can find some points, a considerably higher position is easily within reach. Brighton is actually tied with Burnley in points, but Brighton Hove Albion has a game in hand. Newcastle is in 14th place with 31 points, Crystal Palace is 13th with 33 points, Bournemouth is 12th with 34 points, and Leicester City is 11th with 35 points.
And finally, despite the bleak prognosis given the Orioles as Spring Training opened, the young collection of no-names is playing well and with spirit in Florida. Particularly effective is Catcher Chance Sisco, who in 6 games and 12 at bats has hit 4 home runs and knocked in 9 runs. Sisco is also hitting .417. Shortstop Jack Reinheimer, who is a non-roster invitee, is batting .462 with 6 hits in 13 at bats. And Anthony Santander, who played plenty during the Orioles' late season games, is batting .444 with two homers and 4 doubles among his 8 hits in 18 at bats. There is also bad news. Chris Davis is 1 for 12. Mike Yastrzemski is one for 10, although he has hit a home run and has two runs batted in. His grandfather is, of course, Hall of Fame Member Carl Yastrzemski. At age 28 he is a non-roster invitee and everybody - including me - is rooting hard for the young man. Another offspring of a member of baseball's royalty is first baseman Ryan Ripken, Cal's son. He is 25. With the Orioles this spring, he is 0 for 1. He is not under anywhere near the pressure that Yastrzemski is.
He is an extremely difficult person to write about. It may be just me. But it absolutely has to be done; the man was that amazing. He passed on in 1999. Before I knew about him, he was gone. One of his three children - who spoke about his father in a breathtaking You Tube video - passed on in 2015.

Schiff, Trump's election was their signal to begin the Democratic Party's Neolithic attack on their prey; i.e., Caucasians of all description, Jews of all description, etc.

Trump Speech to Extol American View
BALTIMORE, Maryland, United States of America, Tuesday, February 5, 2019: It has been said previously without the statement being adhered to. Now, it will be adhered to. "It" is the number of posts each calendar week. Four will be the minimum. God Willing, there will often be more posts each week than that. There will be sub-heads in the posts which will enable readers to skip over posts on subject matter they don't care to read.
Rarely Has a State of The Union Address Generated More Pre-Speech Interest.
The President of the United States is called upon to give a report on the State of the Union on an annual basis. Since the early 1900's, that report has been made by way of a spoken speech. Article II, Section 3 of the United States Constitution provides that the President periodically "give to the Congress information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."
Credible and Incisive doubts that President Trump will have any trouble in fulfilling his obligations. There were, of course, pre-State of the Union skirmishes between President Trump and embattled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Prior to the interim settlement of the budget imbroglio, Pelosi disinvited the President, who replied at first that he'd show up anyway. Then he pulled back on that. With the settlement, everything, at least at this hour, is a 'go'.
Pelosi is said to be fearing an uprising of venomous showboating by the quickly growing anti-American contingent among Democratic Congressional representatives. The two Islamics in that group - Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan - have already put the country on notice that they intend to showboat and make free use of Anti-Semitism. Look for all of that to begin tonight. Some Democrats will like that. Many will not, not because they don't really agree with the presumed sentiment of such outbursts, but because of the damage to the party they fear will result.
One assumes that President Trump will be ready and loaded for bear when the showboating gets underway. Will he try to ignore it? Will he attempt to take it in stride? Will he fight back? It is difficult to imagine the President taking a passive approach. Nor would a passive approach be appropriate. Would the President or a Congressional Officer seek to resort to Congressional Rules and Procedures to restore the decorum of the Congress (such as it is). I would not want to be the Sergeant of Arms or official security and police personnel.
Some observers have worried that the new anti-American elements amongst the left will begin their show by dressing down for the night. And that might be a good early gauge as to what the anti-Americans are up to.
Assuming the President is actually able to make his speech, one assumes he will begin by reminding the audience of his many and varied accomplishments thus far. I say "remind," but in more than a few cases, a recitation of those many accomplishments will be a matter of first impression. The Anti-American Anti-Trump Main Stream Media have all buy eliminated any news about these frequent accomplishments from the pages and minutes of their media outlets. People who actually still look to the New York Times or, say, CBS, for news of such things will be getting quite the education when they hear about the microscopic unemployment levels these days, even among such often vulnerable groups such as Black Men and Hispanics. In both of these instances, the unemployment rates have never been lower.
Never.
Trump will also want to remind Viewers about his many foreign policy accomplishments, including his agreements with North Korea, his pending agreement with China, his trade treaties (now actually favoring the USA) and his decisions to reduce USA troop levels around the world. He will also want to inform everyone once again about the better-equipped USA Military that defends this nation. Before President Trump, the American Military was on a downbound train, seemingly, under Obama, on an express one to a crash landing at the bottom of reality.
President Trump must also take this unique opportunity to frame to Border Wall Controversy in a way that will make crystal clear how necessary wall is and how wrong-headed opposition to it is. Will the Queen of Hostility and Inane thinking - she being Nancy Pelosi - be listening? No. That is why the President be prepared to explain what his next steps will be.
Let me put in an unsolicited plug for One American News and its announced coverage plans for the evening, According to the network - which, on FIOS, is Station Number 116, there will be no commercial interruptions, either during the State of the Union or during the rebuttals of the Democrats. After all of this, One American News will provide analysis from its never-soft-spoken commentator Liz Wheeler. I wish time would also have been made for a contribution from the networks only other commentator, Graham Ledger. You will not find a more articulate, hard-hitting, honest, or informed commentator anywhere.
From the King James Bible, the Old Testament, this is Jeremiah, Chapter 50, Verse 6: My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains; they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.
Also from the King James Translation, Old Testament, from the prophet Obadiah, Chapter 1, Verse 15: For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, It shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
And from the King James, New Testament, St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians, Chapter 1, beginning at Verse 13: For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: Verse 14: And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. Verse 15: But when it pleased God, who separated me fom my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, Verse 16: To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Verse 17: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Verse 18: Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter; and abode with him fifteen days. Verse 19: But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. Verse 20: Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not. Verse 21: Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia; Verse 22: And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ: Verse 23: But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. Verse 24: And they glorified God in me.
Sports: A Few Notes About Burnley and Maryland (Basketball and Baseball)
Pinch yourself. It is only February 5, but opening day for the University of Maryland Baseball Team is only a few days hence. The Terps open the 2019 campaign in Conway, South Carolina, where they will take part in a three-day, four team NCAA baseball festival. Besides the Terps, Campbell, Coastal Carolina and VCU are taking part. Maryland plays Campbell on Friday, February 15, at 11 am, Coastal Carolina on Saturday, February 16, at 3 pm, and VCU on Sunday, February 17, at 11 am. Maryland opens their home schedule Friday, February 22, against Maine. It will be the first of a three-game series with the Brown Bears.
Maryland basketball team next plays Nebraska. The Terps slipped to No. 24 in the latest AP poll.
Unless Burnley rights their ship, they seem destined to play the relegation game right down to the final week of Premier League play in May. As I post, the Claret are 6 wins, 6 draws and 13 defeats, and, more importantly, just two points clear of relegation. The Claret have 13 matches left to play. Generally, to avoid relegation, a side needs to be a tad over 40 points. Right now, Burnley has 24 points. Think about 4 wins and 4 draws to avoid relegation.
