Desperate Times for Hilary; Orioles Sweep Diamondbacks to Hold Second Wild Card Spot; Ravens Rally on Tucker Field Goal; No. 1 Maryland Shuts Out Michigan State to Grab Firm Grip on Big Ten Soccer Lead

BALTIMORE, Maryland, Monday, September 26, 2016 - We Americans, no matter which party we call our own, or which candidate we think we support, know for certain that we can almost feel the looming and ominous presence of the first presidential debate, scheduled for tonight at Hofstra University in New York.  Donald Trump has surged in the polls, with many of these polls now calling the race a dead heat, and more than a few of them actually putting Trump in the lead.  But even if you didn't know what the infamous polls were saying, you would know that Trump's fortunes have dramatically improved because of the desperation of the Hillary Clinton campaign, including the desperate and low brow behavior of her many functionaries in the main-stream media. Over the past weekend most of the larger mainstream media newspapers did stories on - get this! -Trump's habit of telling untruths.

You read that right.  The Washington Post, the New York Times and other papers all said - in supposedly unbiased newspaper stories - that Trump's propensity for mixing untruths into his stump speeches along the campaign trail make it necessary for Debate Moderator Lestor Holt of NBC to intervene to keep the record safe.  How brazen!  A recent survey of the American Electorate showed that 89% of all Americans do not believe that Hilary Clinton is either honest or trustworthy.  But Holt needs to monitor Trump.

No longer does Her Liarship bother with untruths about her would-be administration.  Instead, all of her time and money have gone into bashing Mr. Trump.  Every five minutes either Hillary or some functionary announce, via a commercial or interview that Trump is unqualified and a racist and a nut.

This is all so absurd when you consider that Hilary came to Trump's wedding and had her only child, her daughter Chelsea, pow around with Trump's children.  This is not the behavior of a woman who actually believed any of the nonsense she and her functionaries are delving into these days.

It was not that many years ago that Hilary sat by silently as the Rev. Jesse Jackson praised Trump's many contributions - not all of them financial - to minority issues in New York City.

But you know the Democrats, today's version of this party, the one that is lorded over by the Ultra Left: they won't let logic or truth keep them from playing the despicable race card, or other 'cards' designed to reverse their free fall in the polls.

None of this is to say that Trump doesn't have it in him to pull a major bonehead comment out of his bag.  For America's sake, we can only hope he resists this temptation.

As for the media, and here we speak of the three old-time Alphabet Networks (ABC, CBS and, the boot-licker of all of the boot-lickers, NBC);  each day I look in stunned amazement as the New York Times runs front page above-the-fold "revelations" about Donald Trump, while Hillary Clinton's awful and despicable behavior gets virtually no play at all.  There is only one candidate who is not qualified to be president in this campaign, and that is the felonious Hilary Clinton.  At NBC, the low brow nonsense has even spilled over to the entertainment side of the network.  It wasn't that long ago when the ultra left would confine its interventions to a few quickies on Law and Order.  If you didn't have an ear for the far left propaganda, you'd miss it.  Now, the Bonzo of the network, Seth Meyers, just sets off on Trump from the first second.  (Now, I have to admit that I have never looked at the show this other unfunny clown, Coldbert, puts on.  He lost me when he paraded Obama, the wife and even John Kerry onto his stage in his first ten days on the air.  Just what we all need, more very old, very stale, very 'sure to fail because that is all these ideas ever do' left wing nonsense.  Name one time, one place, when any of these ideas have ever worked. Ever!

Heaven knows what election day will bring.  If Hilary wins it will be Katy, bar the door.  And to think that certain Hollywood fools say they will leave the country if Trump wins.  If Hillary wins, there won't be much of a country left to leave.

I honestly don't know what to tell Trump going into the debate.  His opponent is a liar of the first order and may well be lining up in-debate help to insure her success, whatever that would be defined as.intervention by Holt along the lines of the saving intervention by Candy Crowley in the Romney v. Obama debate, or something more subtle.  When NBC's Matt Lauer interviewed Hilary and actually ask a few real questions, and didn't go all out to humiliate Trump during a subsequent debate, he was skewered by the Far Left Media.  Holt knows he'll get similar treatment, or worse, if he doesn't tow the far left line.  And yet, if Trump looses his cool, it would lead to similar ganging up.  Isn't life fair when the Ultra Far Left is involved.  No, it is, by definition, quite fascist, don't you think?

Sports: Orioles Sweep Diamondbacks, Head Off to Toronto and New York for Final Six Games; Baltimore Holds Second Wild Card Spot, 1.5 Behind Blue Jays; Ravens Rally Past Jacksonville to Improve to 3-0; Maryland Soccer Takes Firm Grip on Big Ten Lead - COLLEGE PARK, Maryland - The Orioles swept Arizona in a three-game weekend set at Camden Yards, enabling them to move back into the second Wild Card Position, one and one-half ahead of Detroit, which held the second spot going into the weekend, and 1.5 behind the Blue Jays, which host the Orioles in a three-game series beginning Tuesday night.  After that series, Baltimore flies to the Bronx for a three-game set to close out the regular season.  Winning the division is no longer possible, but getting the first Wild Card spot, enabling them to host Toronto for that one decisive playoff game, is still very possible.  As for the Yankee series, you might recall last season when the Orioles were out of contention but the Yanks were still very much in contention when New York came to Baltimore to close out the season.  The Orioles swept the Yanks, and the Yanks went home after the season.  If the Birds can get either of the Wild Card positions, it will be up to Manager Buck Showalter to jockey his pitchers in such a way that he has a top starter available for the Wild Card game, wherever it is played.  The last thing Oriole Fans would want is for the Birds to make the Wild Card, but be left with a cold starter for the big game.  Then again, Wade Miley got his first win on Sunday and had a shutout going until there were two outs in the ninth inning.

The Ravens looked like they were going to pull defeat from the clenched jaws of victory yesterday in Jacksonville after Joe Flacco was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter, both on tipped balls.  But Jacksonville had a very makable Field Goal blocked, and the Ravens took the muff deep enough into Jacksonville territory to enable Kicker Justin Tucker to connect on a 54-yard Field Goal to propel the Ravens to a 19-17 Win over the Jaguars.  The Ravens improved to 3-0 as they prepare to host Oakland next Sunday.  Every other team in the AFC North has at least one loss, and the defending champs, the Bengals, have two.

Maryland's Soccer team was in a scoreless tie with a very good Michigan State team on Friday night in College Park.  But in the second half, the Terps took over.  First, Jake Rozhansky scored early in the second half and the Terps, now 6-0-2, including 3-0-1 in the Big Ten, added an own goal in the 73rd minute in front of 7,391 at Ludwig Field,.  For the Terps, it was the fifth-largest turnout in venue history and the third 5,000-plus turnout in five home matches this season.

Michigan State was solid throughout, and even the own goal was not the fault of the Spartan Defense.  Maryland was in the midst of one of its trademark swarms around the net when a hard shot rebounded onto the back of the foot of a defender and into the net.  The boisterous crowd cared little about how the ball got where it ended up.

The Spartans (5-2-0, 2-1-0) now trail Maryland by four points.  They are tied with Indiana, Wisconsin, Penn State and Ohio State.  Northwestern - Maryland's opponent this coming Friday - is next with 4 points.
