BALTIMORE, Maryland, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 - The first debate is complete. Predictably, the ultra far left mainstream media, including, most notably, its moderator-turned- Clinton-supporter-and-chief-interventionist, Lester Holt, and their other allies in the camp of Hilary Clinton, say that the former first lady, along with Holt, "won" the debate. Everybody else, including all of the informal polls taken after the debate save for the one concocted by the ultra far left CNN organization, say that Donald Trump was the clear winner. I am in the latter camp.
According to the influential and almost always accurate Powerline Blog, Trump was declared the clear winner in 17 of 19 snap polls taken right after the debate. People who say Hilary won can't understand that people gag at the thought of her winning anything. The Powerline folk thought Trump performed miserably. They are, of course, entitled to their opinion, but in my estimation, anything Trump did last night has to be immediately compared to who his opponent was, what kind of things she has done, does, and will do, and the apocalyptic danger of someone as 'bad' as her getting anywhere near the Whitehouse again. When you do that type of comparison, it is virtually impossible for Trump to lose. I get the feeling that Trump is growing into what he has to do. The streak of devil-may-care wildness and irresponsibility that was there at the outset of his campaign seems to be all but gone. What is left is his gnawing desire to win, mixed admirably with his strong and appreciating desire to bale the nation out of the hole Obama and Hilary have dumped it in. He may never approach President Reagan, but if he digs us out of the hole and gets us back to even, he will be some kind of miracle worker.
In my mind, Hilary could not have won the debate without abandoning her ultra far left posturing. The Good Lord knows she did not abandon those ridiculous positions. In fact, she cannot function without them. Ultra Far Leftists are like that. Just look at Obama: time and time again he arrived at a junction in his two terms where he could have done the right and proper pro-American thing, or continued to follow his ingrained far left dogma-soaked mind to the country's detriment. Each time, he took the far left course and we all suffered for it. The Iran deal and the billions he has sent there? By any test that is both insane and treasonable, not to mention downright harmful to the USA, but he went and did it anyway. What kind of warped and depraved mind would think it was a good idea to send billions of dollars to mad and depraved men bent on mass murder and genocide? Obama's mind, that's who. And Hilary would be right there given the opportunity. Hopefully, prayerfully, that chance will not be given. Hopefully, prayerfully, we will have a chance to pull back from that miserable and depraved abyss.
Trump was quite real throughout the 90 minute ordeal. He drove home one obvious but often overlooked point that acts like a lead balloon around Hilary's neck: even if she has a good idea, the issue immediately becomes why she's waited all these years to implement it. Then, at one point, she said that by the end of the evening she would be blamed for all of President Obama's mistakes. Well, of course she will be. She has strongly endorsed Obama. She has said she agrees with Obama on every major point, including the disastrous Obamacare, the suicidal Iran Nuclear Deal, the Pacific Partnership, etc.
Trump never mentioned Benghazi or the espionage-soaked email scandal. Many believe he is saving those bombshells for the third debate.
Before the debate, the mainstream media was candid in ordering Holt to rip Trump. For his part, Holt proved he wasn't interested in suffering the same ignominy put upon Matt Lauer and Jimmy Fallon when they had the audacity to treat Hilary and Trump relatively equally. Imagine! Since this obvious abandoning of far left dogmatic duties, the two men have been shunned and disparaged by the far left. Holt wanted no part of this fate and did what he had to do to show for one and all that he was far left to the T. You go, Lester! At least now we won't have to listen to somebody trying to say that he really is objective.
Hilary, desperate because of polls showing Trump has come from well behind to draw even or even ahead or Her Liarship, recited charges that Trump has called women all manner of foul names. For his part, Trump refrained, for now, from calling Hillary any number of earned monikers. He did, however, remind her that it was her better half that signed the NAFTA deal into law, and that she has supported it ever since. He reminded the audience that Hillary originally backed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, then turned against it immediately after Trump announced that he was against the deal.
