Burnley Rebounds to Shut Down Blackpool, 1-0; Marvin Sordell's Missle From 24 Feet Caps Dominating Performance

BALTIMORE, Maryland August 2, 2014 - After an ominous loss to League One denizen Preston NE, Burnley dearly needed a dominating performance Saturday at longtime rival Blackpool. They got it. Claret Coach Sean Dyche was quick to voice his happiness with what he saw as an overall inspired performance by his team. Tom Cisak started in the net for Burnley and kept the Seasiders off the socreboard during his half of action. Cisak is unscored upon this preseason in a combined game and a half of action. Matt Gilks played the second half and managed to rebound from his losing effort against Preston.

Burnley scored the game's only goal just 22 minutes from time when newcomer Marvin Sordell found the back of the net. It was Sordell's third score of the preseason as both he and fellow newcomer Lukas Jutkiewicz have both scored multiple goals in the four preseason matches to date. Burnley is 3-1 in the four. The Claret are back in action at Turf Moor Tuesday night when Italian Club side Celta Vigo come to Lancashire for a 7:45 pm match with the Claret.
