BALTIMORE, Maryland, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 - Amar Sejdic scored with 25:05 gone in the first half, and No. 1 Maryland made it stand up in a 1-0 victory at No. 22 West Virginia on Monday night. Over 2,000 fans watched as Maryland Keeper Cody Niedermeier made a career-high 8 saves for the unbeaten Terrapins, who improved to 10-0-2 overall.
The lone score of the match came when Mid-Fielder Jake Rozhansky passed to Sejdic, who scored his fifth goal of the campaign. West Virginia out-shot the Terps, 15-8, including 8-3 in the second half. Ironically, the Terps had 7 corner kicks to only one for the Mountaineers, who fell to 6-4-1 on the season. West Virginia played the game as if their chances for post-season play hinged on the outcome. The Mountaineers used only three substitutes, and every starter played at least 71 minutes. Maryland used 6 subs.
The Terps next play on Friday Night in College Park against Wisconsin. The Badgers are currently tied for second place with Michigan State. Each has 10 points, compared to 16 for the Terps. Maryland lists Friday's game at 7 pm while the Big Ten says it will start at 4 pm.
