Terps Lose Pigrome for Entire Season After His Knee Injury is Diagnosed as a Torn ACL

TOWSON, Maryland, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 - Tyrrell Pigrome, who started at Quarterback for Maryland and led them to a 51-41 upset of then No. 23 Texas this past Saturday, has been declared "out for the season" after a knee injury he sustained in the third quarter of the game was diagnosed as a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament.

Pigrome was 9-12 passing for 175 yards, and he also gained 64 yards rushing on 11 carries.  His evasiveness caused Texas all manner of trouble.  Pigrome's heroics allowed Maryland to run off 27 unanswered points after Texas took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.  Ironically, the Longhorn's scored their touchdown by intercepting Pigrome's first pass and returning it for a touchdown.

Maryland Coach D. J. Durkin said Kasim Hill, a true freshman, will move in to the starting QB position, and will start against Towson this weekend in College Park.

Maryland, despite winning against a ranked team on the road, did not crack the AP Top 25.  But the Terps did garner some 45 points in the latest poll, and they would be ranked No. 30 if the Poll was extended.
