31 Men Detained - Including 18 Middle Eastern "Refugees," In Wake of Mass Violent Sexual Assaults in Cologne and Other Cities; Welcoming Tone by German Chancellor Changes With Latest Developments; Expulsions Now Contemplated

BALTIMORE, Maryland January 9, 2016 - Before New Year's Eve, German Chancellor Angela Merkel's official line about the thousands of Middle Eastern refugees she had encouraged to come to her northern European nation, was "We can do it."  What she meant was that he country could do the hard work of assimilating the refugees - who are mostly young men under 30 years of age - into her nation that is well known for hard technical work.  But after the shocking wave of sexual assaults that took place on New Year's Eve in the center of Cologne and other large German cities, Ms. Merkel has changed that battle cry from "We can do it," to "We'd better think about it."

Ms. Merkel's new attitude comes as German authorities announced the arrest of 31 suspects in the violent attacks, 18 of whom were official refugees who came to Germany with this year's influx of refugees allegedly fleeing the horrors of the Syrian Civil War.  Ms. Merkel's new attitude has been embraced by a growing number of German citizens, according to a report in the New York Times.  The Times has been highly critical of those who oppose the influx of Middle Eastern refugees, both to Europe and the United States.

Another result of those shocking assaults was the firing of the Cologne police chief.

Until the mass assaults on New Year's Eve - in Cologne, alone, police said over 1,000 Middle Eastern men took part in the massive sexual assaults - the mainstream media has done everything in its power to suppress reports of sex assaults and other brazen criminal acts.  In the wake of New Year's Eve, however, headlines were found in such popular publications as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Bild, Der Spiegel, The Guardian and The Telegraph.  It appears that, at least for now, the cat is out of the bag.

The question remains as to whether the most pro-Islamic sympathizer in the West - USA President Barack Hussein Obama - will finally relent and hold up massive importations of refugees from the Middle East.  He has been under growing pressure to do so, even from some Democrats, but has steadfastly refused to budge.
