BALTIMORE, Maryland January 6, 2016 - As expected, the latest AP College Basketball Poll has Maryland moving up to No. 3. A loss by then-No. 1 Michigan State in their Big Ten opener at Iowa was the catalyst for the move. There will be more movement in the next poll because, already, one of the two teams ahead of Maryland, No. 2 Oklahoma, lost late Monday night to new No. 1 Kansas in triple OT.
Whether Maryland will be able to take advantage of the situation all depends on how the Terps play in their two Big Ten conference games this week.
The first of the two games is today - Wednesday - at home against Rutgers. On Saturday a stiffer test awaits Maryland when they travel to defending national runner-up Wisconsin. That game is set for 1 pm Saturday and will be broadcast nationally from Madison, Wisconsin on ESPN 2.
Looking ahead, the Terps then travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan next Tuesday Night to play the University of Michigan Wolverines. The game will start at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time and will be broadcast on ESPN.
