With End of Regular Season One Month Away, Logia Warszawa Zeroes In on Polish Soccer Title

BALTIMORE, Maryland March 12, 2014 - With the end of the regular season one month away, the Logia Warszawa Football Club has the Polish Soccer Title in its crosshairs, so close it can almost taste it. After every team has played 25 matches, the Warsaw team has 16 wins - four more than any other team - just two draws and seven losses. It is Logia Warszawa's penchant for playing for the win that has given it what amounts to a two game advantage. Like most other seccer leagues, the Polish league awards three points for a win and one point for a draw.

Amazingly, five of the 16 Polish teams have fewer defeats than does Logia Warszawa, including the team in sixth place. But each of these five teams has considerably more draws than the leader, thus explaining why they are behind in the race for the title. These are the standings:

1. Logia Warszawa: 16 wins, 2 draws, 7 losses, 50 points; 2. (tie) Ruch Chorzow: 12 wins, 8 draws, 5 losses, 44 points; 2. (tie) Wisla Krakow: 12 wins, 8 draws, 5 losses, 44 points; 4. Loch Poznan: 11 wins, 8 draws, 6 losses, 41 points; 5. Gornik Zabrzo: 11 wins, 6 draws, 8 losses, 39 points; 6. Pogon Szczecin: 9 wins 11 draws, 5 losses, 38 points; 7.
