Baseball: Orioles top Blue Jays in 12 on Lough's Walk-Off Hit; Maryland Regains Winning Ways, Gets Big Win at Virginia Tech

BALTIMORE, Maryland April 13, 2014 - The Orioles got a walk-off single by David Lough in the bottom of the 12th inning to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays Saturday night, 2-1. The hit made a winner of Zach Britton (2-0), who pitched two no-hit innings. The Oriles broke on top in the seventh on a Jonathan Schoop two-out hit, but Toronto tied it in the top of the ninth, pinning a blown save on Oriole closer, Tommy Hunter.

Maryland had lost two straight games before beating Virginia Tech Saturday in Blacksburg, Va. The Terps led, 3-2, after six innings and scored an insurance run in the seventh to lead, 4-2. The winning pitcher, Mike Shawaryn, (6-2), threw five and one-third innings, and did not surrender a run until the sixth. But the pitching here was Kevin Mooney, who threw two and two-thirds innings of shut-out relief, and worked out of two bases-loaded jams in the process.
